I might be one of a small handful of folks just not that into the whole Dr. Who thing. Maybe it's because of a bad experience I had with the show when I was a kid and it aired on PBS. I dunno. C loves it, though, and it seems that everywhere I look someone's fangirling over it in some capacity, and this brings us to LynBDesign's Fangirl polish.
"Is that the TARDIS?" I asked C, knowing that this polish is from Jenna's The Doctor Is In collection, and also that there is such a device on the show, and that it is blue. C confirmed this, then proceeded to google "Fangirl Dr. Who" to see if it was a minor character he'd somehow missed. It's not. Apparently, it refers to the many female fans of the show and their ardent feelings towards it. Cool, then. Have some more pictures.
Fangirl is a modern pearl, and when I say modern I mean that it has that irridescent quality that makes a polish resemble the gemstone, but rather than the overly frosty finish of years past, it has an airy, whipped quality to it-- similar to a couple of the OPI Bond Girls colors, without the texture. Fangirl is a light and delicate shade of the palest pink with a beautiful blue shimmer woven throughout-- and there's your nod to the apparently iconic TARDIS. How cool is that?! I don't need to be a fangirl myself to appreciate the inspiration and execution.
Fangirl is semi-sheer, totally buildable, and very easy to apply. I used two coats here because I like how these light and delicate shades look with a bit of natural nail peeking through, like gossamer.
Fangirl and the rest of the The Doctor Is In collection are available for purchase internationally for $8 at LynBDesigns' etsy shop. Like LynBDesigns on facebook to keep up with specials and new releases.
Thanks for reading and have a lovely day! ♥

LOL...funny post. I'm not into the "new" Dr. Who, but I was a hardcore fan of the original series when they showed it on PBS. So I am really curious to know about your bad experience...was it the cheesy special effects? The super annoying voices of the Daleks? The endless public television fund drives? :) I actually met the 5th Doctor, Peter Davison, when I was 16. I was completely besotted with him and was probably drooling all over myself. I thought time travel never looked so handsome.
ReplyDeleteAll that being said...this is a lovely and soft polish, and you said it so well when you described it as having a whipped quality. It looks like a shimmery mother-of-pearl. :)
I couldn't tell you which episode, character, anything. It came on in the earrly evening right after 3-2-1 Contact ended and once in a while my mom kept the tv running. I happened to catch a scene with snakes crawling up some dude's arm and the dude despairingly exclaiming, "Look at my arm!" And it disturbed me to my soul, like, really bothered me. Random things like that would get stuck in my head when I was a kid and I'd be really upset and disturbed over them. I have no explanation to this day. Not so much images, but words, tone of voice. :/
DeleteThat's awesome that you got to meet one of the Doctors! I'll have to check him out next time I'm on the big computer, lol. I would've been falling all over the place if I'd have met my celebrity crush at 16. I think it was a soap star. Good grief. :p
This has a glass fleck-y quality rather than a flat, frosty pearle. It's very pretty. :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, not only is the finish different, it has a little more depth. Cool, eh? :)
DeleteWhat a cool looking polish. I bet it looks beautiful in broad daylight!
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty gleamy. I would've posted one but all the reflection made it a little too bright. Super pretty, though :)
DeleteThis is such a pretty color! I love how shiny and light it is :)
ReplyDeleteI do, too! It's got an ethereal quality to it.
DeleteThis is really pretty! I am normally not into frosty polishes like this but this is really gorgeous. I never got into Dr. Who either, but I do know what a Tardis is!
ReplyDeleteI think I first saw a TARDIS reference on Scrangie, lol. I had to google it because I had no clue. I did know that TARDIS blue is gorgie, though. ;)
DeleteBeautiful color. I just took off a mani that was the same - seriously, frosty pearly look and all. I had put it on at random and no one wears frosts and then here you are with the same thing!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I love my frosts, especially the light ones. I've got like, seven or eight different light, frosty pearly SH Nail Prisms that I've been holding off showing on here because not everybody appreciates them like I do, lol. Yun likes them, too. I'll wear them for you both, lol. Fly your frost flag high! ;)
DeleteThat's so pretty! I love the iridescent quality of it... you're right, it does make it more modern. No worries about not being a Dr. Who fan... I'm not even sure who Dr. Who is. :D
ReplyDelete~ Yun
Yes!! I'm glad you agree and that I'm not just making stuff up, lol. And once again, I'm in excellent company ;) I'll take Once Upon A Time any day, lol. Fortunately, C likes a variety of tv shows.
Deletewow, gorgeous color!
ReplyDeleteI agree :) I love light and shifty, lol.
DeleteWouldn't that be a great bridal mani? So Pretty!
ReplyDeleteYes! I was thinking that, too.
Deletelove the iridescence in this... beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteI love it, too :) Like perfect little color shifting clouds for your nails. ♥
DeleteHi Liesl, awesome post and I can see each word in the photos!!! Beautiful polish and suits you wonderfully. As for Dr. Who: I would not know what it is if I would not have started reading nailpolish blogs ;- P!!! So much for my education TV series wise!!!
ReplyDeleteLolol, at least half of what I know comes from nail blogs. I feel like I can have a conversation with C about the show because of it, lol. Right there with ya, sis ;)
DeleteI don't get the whole dr. who thing either. lol. Never seen it, don't know it. And I love it that way. lol..
ReplyDeleteBut this is a pretty polish. So dainty!
I agree on all counts. I haven't even really tried to get into it when C watches it, lol.
