Hi all!! I've got on another smokin' neon holo from Celestial Cosmetics and Color4Nails summer 2014 collaboration collection, The Electric You. This one is Merge, a beautiful, bright rosy pink jelly based linear holo. Shown two coats under one layer of topcoat. I think this is just about the prettiest holo I've seen so forgive the amount of photos you're about to see, lol. The formula is textbook Celestial, minimal cleanup, practically applying itself.

It's suggested that the polishes in this collection be worn over a while base, because of their neon-ness, but like Inception, I didn't feel Merge needed it at all. It's a tiny bit sheer but still satisfyingly bright, and the color is simply to die for. Even so, I decided to be a good little blogger and give the white base a shot, so you can see the difference.

I ended up using two coats of white and two coats of Merge, finished with a layer of topcoat. Four layers is one over where I max out, patience wise, and obviously I don't know how to avoid shrinkage with so many layers and finishes. White does alter the color some and make it a little more punchy, but I admit to liking this one best without any alterations.
One way or another, Merge goes down as one of my all-time favorite Celestial Cosmetics polishes and is another spot-on perfect summer pink.
The Electric You collection lands at color4nails.com on July 1, so stay tuned for more previews and mark your calendars.

That is a gorgeous pink! I just love your swatches of it.
ReplyDeleteThanks, doll ♥
DeleteGosh this is so so pretty! I like it best without the white as well! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's just cleaner looking, I think.
DeleteHi Liesl, you are right, it is a smoking' hot holo number - which says a lot given the mass of holos we are swimming in and the challenge in getting a bright hot pink base loaded with holo. I am with you - I like it best worn on its own - I wear all neons without a white base and while the neon particles flare up on white, on its own the base color gains depth and saturation - my humble opinion only I have to add. Have a lovely Sunday xoxo
ReplyDeleteI think it's a novel concept, neons over white, and maybe best suited to neon cremes or jellies. If something really needs a base, I generally leave it alone. You're absolutely right about the depth and saturation and I think the rainbow is stronger on its own, too. Lovely Sunday to you, as well!! ♥♥
DeleteThis polish is one of those that jumps out at you on your blog feed. What a stunner!! I think you have made me want every single Celestial polish you've shown. You ARE a good little blogger! :D And I agree...I like this better with no white. Oh, who am I kidding? I like anything better if it doesn't involve multiple polishes...
ReplyDeleteYes, me, too. And I keep seeing these drugstore topper collections and I just want them to stop! lol. And thank youuu ♥♥♥♥♥
DeleteOh my. Merge is STUNNING!! I immediately thought of Melissa when I saw this one too, haha!!! I like this one sans the white base though. Such a deeper fuchsia pink. Makes me thirsty!!!
ReplyDeleteThirsty, lolol? How?? You're so cute. I totally agree on the color n its own :)
DeleteWhat a gorgeous pink! I like both versions, and do see it a little brighter over the white, but would personally wear such a color without the white base as well. The white base just adds too many layers for me, and I could never get all the different layers to line up perfectly haha. :)

I'm not one easily sold when I'm told something will look its best over something else, myself, so I'm really pleased that these all perform well on their own (and that you gals agree with my summation). It does get a little thick, and looks a little uneven irl.
