Zoya Holly

Good morning and Happy Sunday!  Two days until CHRISTMAS!!!  You know, I had all these manis I wanted to show you, so many different and pretty colors and glitters that are just holiday perfect in their own ways, but the fact is that I've gone with bare nails more this month than any other.  It's been a funny month.  Funny and busy.  I have worn the lovely Zoya Holly a couple times, though.

I thought I'd take a cue from Essie's playbook :)  C bought me this pretty gold sweater dress for one of our *many* (cough) social obligations this season.  Had the Mayan prophecy indeed meant we'd all be going out in a firestorm a couple nights ago, this is what I would've made my exit in, lol.

Anyway, remember I said Zoya Song is the perfect Christmas blue (because I happen to speak infallibly about nail polish)?  Holly is the perfect green.  It's a warm, yellow toned metallic and it makes my nails look like they're wrapped in shiny green foil paper.  I just love it.  Holly was one of two in my very first Zoya purchase almost a year ago, and I've been holding off on wearing it because I am a seasonal color wearer, although I did post about it once, early on.  It was one of those blog turning points for me so it is special in a couple ways. ;)

Oh, specs.  Holly is from the Holiday 2011 collection.  I used two coats .  The formula's thin for Zoya metallics, and I think it's a good thing.  It just makes it a little easier to control.

So... What was your first Zoya?  Gone to any parties this season?  Any musings on Mayans, Christmas being so close, shiny nail polishes?

  2. Love this! I'm a green nail polish fan for sure! My first Zoya was Caitlin. I really love that color, I just haven't worn it lately. Love your photos and your sweater! Looks great. I love how adding the sweater or a piece of fabric really shows off the color of the polish. That's the biggest reason why I do it. Thanks for the mention too:) 1 Christmas down, 3 to go for us...

    1. Caitlin... I need to loook that one up. I think it's a lighter color? Four Christmases sounds exhausting, lol. I bet your girls clean up, though :)

  3. I think of all the brands Zoya does green best. I didn't get this one in particular but I do have about four or five other zoyas in green.

    1. Saaaad face. Some last longer on me than others, though. Glassflecks are usually the best.

    1. Merry Christmas to you and yours! :) You are so sweet and thoughtful, but you totally don't need to reference me if I remind you of a polish you need to wear ;) Sooki! I need that one. Zoya does have some awesome reds.

    2. Hi Liesl, how utterly sweet of you, but I love to put in references to wonderful people like you since you truly inspire me and I like to put some comment on why I choose this polish - so you see.... ;-) and lastly I am so happy to have figured how to implement links that I cannot seem to stop it ;-P

  8. Between you and Essie I had to go google Caitlin. It is gorgeous dusky purple. I can see why you both like it so. I'm sure bartending for Christmas parties is plenty entertaining, lol. That is so cool that you guys did a Mayan ruins tour! We honeymooned about an hour and a half away from Chichen Itza but never went, and have been kicking ourselves a little bit because they've since banned visitors from climbing it. We've also batted around the idea of vacationing in Copan. Anyway, we seem so collectively obsessed with doomsday, it seems like no voice of reason could dissuade the romanticism that the world might possibly be coming to an end... lots of nuances and inconsistencies in that very thought, but now's neither the time nor the place, lol. Blah blah blah, sheesh. ;) Merry Christmas to you, too, Amy :)
