Celestial Cosmetics Mother Of Dragons

*press sample

It's a fun and rare thing when each polish you try from a certain collection is better than the last, and in the case of Color4Nails and Celestial Cosmetics' collaboration set, The Seven Kingdoms, this is most certainly true.  Mother Of Dragons is a classic and beautiful magenta to gold duochrome with a shimmery metallic, slightly pearly finish.

I seriously cannot say enough good things about Mother Of Dragons.  This will be my go to festive nails-like-Christmas-ornaments polish this year, something I've regrettably skipped out on in years past.  Of course, the difference between this and the red/cranberry metallics and foils we've seen in years past is the brilliant gold flash.

The formula is outstanding-- very easy to apply, minimal cleanup (in fact, I had zero), rich and opaque in two coats.
Here are some outside shots.

This, ladies and gents, is why duochromes are in my top three favorite finishes.

So I've been thinking, and noticing, since my nails are all long and stuff now, that I perhaps need to switch my standard poses up a bit.  C decided to offer me some advice and suggested I hold the bottles as if I'm holding a guitar (he used to play bass so this is for real here, mkay?).

It's niiiice, no?  lolol.

Anyhoooo, Mother Of Dragons and the rest of the Celestial Cosmetics The Seven Kingdoms collection will be available for sale internationally within the next few days at color4nails.com.

  1. You know, the C pose would probably be pretty fantastic for showing duochrome shifts. So I can't hate! As for the polish, it's one of those gorgeous glowing ember shades and I love ♥

    1. Lol, that's probably very true! I'd have to refine the pose a bit though, lolol. This polish actually reminds me of one of my Nail Prisms, Scarlet Ruby. That one's got a flash of amber amidst the red, gold, and magenta, if I remember correctly. Ahh it's time I started wearing those again....

  2. This polish is so criminally beautiful that it should be arrested! Wow...I love metallic shades like this, and is it just me, or is it really nice to see a deviation from the standard purple to green duochrome? And the guitar pose makes you look mighty fierce, too. :P

    1. Yeah? Totally realistic, like I'm going to shred like Exdie Van Halen, right? Or Les Claypool, since C was talking bass.
I am always, and I mean that, ALWAYS happy to see a duochrome of any color or strength but these not quite so prolific colors do make me profoundly so. This one's a total throwback to the Nail Prisms of old. I should have put that in the post!

    1. Yes, yes it is :) You know, I was thinking about the difference between a frost and a pearl and I think a frost is frostier, and a pearl is more subtle. And something can be frosty and pearly at the same time.

    2. You know, I've never been sure what frosty means. I think I know what pearly means... I just think of a pearl. Is frosty just that it has lots of white/silver shimmers in it? Sometimes people will say a polish is frosty, but I totally can't see it haha. :)

  4. Those last duochrome pics are to die for! I usually like my reds to be a bit more... red? But this is a definite stunner. Your pictures are so good :)

    1. Oh, you're so sweet! :) I was disappointed that this wasn't more red for a second, but then there was this gold flash and I got over it, lool.

    1. You got seven??! That's awesome! I can't wait to see what else you picked up. It is a nice site, isn't it? It's been up and running for only a couple months. I'm excited to see it grow. And yesh, the polish bass pose... It took a small amount of practice, lool.

    1. You did?! You're so cool! I wish all the time that I'd stuck with the flute after jr. high. Not my first choice of instrument today but I sure wish I'd have stuck with it. Do you still know how to play?

    2. Yep, I was the only girl in our school to play it. No, I don't think I could still play - I haven't tried though...
