piCture pOlish Eyre and Solar Flare Prettiness

*contains press sample(s)

Hi all!!  Sometimes my photos just plain hack me off but I'm so excited to tell you all about a certain polish that I go ahead and post, regardless of how much my photos do not do the polishes justice.  So, prior posts I'm not 100% thrilled with, combined with my compulsion to take pictures of my nails every time I change my polish, lolol, drove me to try and show these sparkly piCture pOlish beauties in a better light (that, and I'm super stoked seeing all the new piCture pOlish collaboration releases).

Celestial Cosmetics Meteoroid and Aurora

Remember when you first started your nail polish hobby, and every other color was just mindblowingly fascinating?  And your stash grew, and things just kind of got less exciting, just because you'd already seen so much, and more or less knew what to expect?  It's the whole magic of the first time thing and when you're years into a hobby, things just don't fascinate you nearly as often, nor in quite the same way.  Sometimes, though, a polish will come along and grab you to the point where you've just got to have it and BAM, that magic is back again.  That happened to me twice, recently, perhaps in part because they're both from one of my very favorite indies, so I already knew the formulas would be outstanding, but also because they both collectively share everything I love in an effects polish-- holo, duochrome, and glassfleck.  Allow me to present Celestial Cosmetics Meteoroid and Aurora.

Sally Hansen Nail Prisms Amber Ruby

I'm feeling a high level of duochrome love right now and the ridiculously shifty-gorgeous Sally Hansen Nail Prisms Amber Ruby is gracing my nails at the moment.

If you want to know how I really feel, any Prism is a good Prism, but the dark duochromes just rock my socks.  Amber Ruby is an amazing shifter that goes from ruby to brick red to syrupy amber to golden, with the occasional flash of green, just to keep things interesting.  And, it's laced with dark red shimmers and gives off this incredible glow.  This polish seriously has it all.
Some of the darker SH duochromes are sheer and sort of jelly-like and some are more metallic in nature, like this one.  It's opaque in two coats and dries in a reasonable amount of time.  The formula's a little thin, but not unmanageable.  Amber Ruby is pretty readily available on Amazon and ebay, for about the price of a Butter London, including shipping.

Sally Hansen Nail Prisms Scarlet Ruby

Hi friends!  It's been a while since I posted about a Nail Prism, and I've got some lovely dark multichromes I picked up this summer that have been sitting around waiting for a cool fall day to be properly worn.  Today I'm wearing Scarlet Ruby.

Scarlet Ruby honestly doesn't look like much in the bottle, but once it's on... HOLY smokes.  We've got rich red, dark pink, amber, golden brown....  From some angles it truly is reminiscent of a ruby, glistening and dark pink-red.  Then from others it's as deep and shifting as a brick red garnet.  Scarlet Ruby's also a metallic, which means its coverage is better than some of the Nail Prisms dark duo- and multichromes.  This one is perfect in two coats.  I absolutely love this color.  It's definitely one of the more underappreciated Prisms-- not so well known, but totally gorgeous.
Prices and availability of these colors are in constant flux.  Scarlet Ruby's available on amazon right now for $14.99.  I got mine this past summer for less than half that.  It's definitely worth it to pay attention if you're looking to add any of these beauties to your stash.

Thanks for reading and have a lovely day! <3

Max Factor Fantasy Fire

Good morning, friends!!  Let me start out by saying that it is indeed a blessing to have family members who don't mind going cosmetic hunting for me while on their international travels.  This time, my uncle went to England, and I asked him to look for the elusive UK exclusive Max Factor Fantasy Fire.  Imagine my TOTAL excitement (and warm, fuzzy feelings of love, lol) when I received an email from him stating that the seventh, yes, seventh store was the charm, and he found me three FFs.  Nearly every picture I've seen features it layered over something, meant to conserve because of its price and size.  I planned on wearing it at least once all on its own, but with three bottles, I could do so with reckless abandon.  So, without further ado, here's Fantasy Fire, in four coats.

You've read the descriptions before.  Fantasy Fire is a blue violet jelly base packed with predominantly bright reddish orange golden multichrome shimmer.  I can't even tell you how many times I oohed and ahhed over this polish as I was painting.  At some angles it flashes more golden, and at some the shimmer is green.  And all the while the liquid in the bottle is positively mesmerizing.  Fantasy Fire is fun layered, but on its own it's got this amazing depth and glow.  If you have it, it is worth wearing on its own at least once.  It is absolutely gorgeous, and seriously worthy of as much hyperbole as I can use.  I have the best uncle ever, lol. ;)

Sally Hansen Nail Prisms Burgundy Orchid

Ahhh, it's PURPLE day in Bec's Rainbow Favorites challenge, and I can say unequivocally that this is, in fact, my favorite purple, and one of my favorite polishes.  You may or may not have noticed my slight fixation on the discontinued Nail Prism line... well, this one was my first, the one that started it all, and now it's going for double what I paid for it on evil bay and amazon.  Burgundy Orchid, friends.  It's a purple to pink to blue to gold, at some angles, absolutely freakin' gorgeous multichrome.  This is three coats.

The Prisms line does a decent holo and some pretty light and medium shade pearls and duochromes, but their dark duo and multichromes are where they absolutely nail it.  This took half an X Files episode and another half hour of helping C study for this to dry, and it honestly stinks to high heaven, but it's worth it.  It might even be worth shelling out for a backup. ;)

So what other gorgeous purples abound today?

Also, I've been playing around with my layout.  I tried to clean up my format a bit, and I've changed the background a couple times.  I think I like this one.  Any thoughts?  Good?  Bad?  Go back to the bright pink?  Don't give a rip?
Thanks for reading, either way... lol. ;)  Have a marvelous day. :)

Sally Hansen Nail Prisms Burgundy Orchid

Hello!!  It's another clinicals week for C, which means I have lots of time to catch up on Gossip Girl.  I'm halfway into season 4 and the show's starting to lose me.  On the upside, I'm finally starting to break this cough/cold/allergy thing, which means I can get back to a regular workout routine, and not a moment too soon.  At the rate I'm going, I'll have like, no muscle tone by the time summer hits.  Saaaad face.

Anyway.
Sally Hansen Nail Prisms Burgundy Orchid is the first (and only, thus far) discontinued I actively sought out.  The colors are gorgeous, shifting from varying shades of purple to red to gold to blue.  I love it.  This polish is amazing.  This is four coats.

The flash on the bottom two doesn't do much for it, but I really wanted to capture the blue to red shift.  (Success: moderate.)  I freakin' love this color.
These prisms are a little hard to find, but I've constantly got my eye out for more.  Bring them back, SH, would ya?  lol.  How fun would a SH retro collection be?
Happy Friday the 13th!  Give a black kitty some love. ;)
