A Franken Femme Custom Original

Hi everyone!  There are a lot of remarkably talented and creative minds in the polish world and this gives those of us content to write and take pictures plenty to be thankful for.  I'm one of the least creative out there when it comes to thinking in color and dreaming up my own shades, so when the fabulous Becca, aka the Franken Femme, gave me the opportunity to have a custom color made a few weeks ago, I needed to take some time to really think about what I'd want.  Becca has a plethora of beautiful and original creations, and I'm still floored and honored that she offered to make something for me.

In case you're unfamiliar with the term "frankening", Girly Bits Cosmetics blog has a comprehensive description of the phenomenon.  In a nutshell, frankening is taking different components, such as existing polish colors, eyeshadows, glitters, pigments, and mixing them together to create a franken polish.  It's a pretty awesome way to tweak certain colors to achieve a certain vision.  My vision, because Becca offered this at the beginning of fall, was a dark teal to midnight blue glassfleck and my gosh, did she deliver.  It's even got a bit of the purple duochrome flash that I love so much.  Observe.

So what we have here is a black jelly base saturated with dark teal shimmers that flash, yes, purple, when they're not too busy giving off the appearance of the darkest, clearest ocean depth.  This polish is deep, glowy, and brilliantly beautiful.  I used two coats plus one layer of topcoat.

I love my custom Franken Femme creation so much and I can't thank you enough, Becca.  You truly nailed this one.
Check out more of Becca's creations on her blog, Franken Femme, and like Franken Femme on facebook.  Prepare to be inspired.

Thank you for reading and have a beautiful day! ♥

    1. Isn't it? Do awesome of her :) I hadn't planned on naming it. I'm so bad at that kind of thing.

    1. I had to google that one... Yeah, they are similar! The Flormar's got a much stronger shift but I wasn't anticipating this having one at all <3

  4. How do I love this?? Let me faint the ways...WELL done, Miss Becca.

This is so pretty it ain't even funny. It looks very...expensive...as well. Becca is a sweetie, and it never hurts to be sweet and talented. <3 YEAH, what are you going to name it? Please don't name it anything "mermaid", even though it looks totally mermaid. It's just that I've made it a personal mission to buy every polish out there with a mermaid moniker, and this one was a custom just for you, so I can't buy it. :D

    1. I had to go back and look at your Toxic Chocolate after I posted this. Becca is so talented <3 And this does look a little luxe, doesn't it? Dark glassflecky types seem to have that appearance. I hadn't thought about naming it but if I do, I promise I won't use the word Mermaid :)

    1. Well since you're the third person to bring it up, perhaps I should. I'll enlist C's help, though, he's much better at that sort of thing.

    1. So as of now, the best I can come up with is Dwight K. Schrute.

  8. My goodness, I wasn't expecting the full post treatment! I love that you love it :) Also, given your talent for the literary vernacular, I find it hard that you won't be able to come up with an awesome name for it. Hopefully the name will be half as awesome as this looks on you.... no pressure though ;)

    1. No pressure, indeed, lol. All I know at the moment is that I'm watching way too many Iffice reruns because Dwight K. Schrute seems like a fine name. :/ And if course this gets a full post, I'm still blown away that you made this for me <3

  10. Hmmm... how 'bout Inky Purple Peacock, or Duo Teal Me More?! :P I can come up with more, if I wasn't so tired. ;)
This is truly a stunning polish!! How fun to have a totally one of a kind indie made JUST for you! :D Maybe I should do that sometime. Not myself - find an indie that would make me one. ;) I don't even know what I would want! Too.many.options.

    1. Both names are superior to my own first choice (see above responses, lol). Man, the pressure's too muchhh!! I jest. But I seriously can't think of anything. I like yours. Hmmm....
Und just an fyi, most etsy sellers do custom polishes, if that interests you <3
