Honey Bunny Lacquer Alice In Chains Collection

*press sample

Hello and happy Caturday!!  If you follow on facebook or instagram, you might have seen that not only am I down to nubs AGAINNNNN, but I've been enjoying wearing my favorite OPI Softshades colors on said nubs this week, and I've been reminded of why I love those creamy, glossy sheer polishes so much.  One of the other things I like using those polishes for is as bases for colorful and chunky glitters, as they highlight the variances so nicely and just make the colors extra vibrant.

Honey Bunny Lacquer's newest collection is one full of such glitters, and anchored by two stand alone colors.  This collection is inspired by creator Deb's favorite band, premier grunge artists Alice In Chains.  It you're a fan of the band, or of grunge in general, you might recognize a few of the names.

First up is Black Gives Way to Blue, an off-black jelly base alit with blue, teal, and magenta microshimmer.  In the bottle, it's very dark but once it's on the nail, those blue shimmers become predominant and give off a wickedly deep and beautiful golw.  Black does indeed give way to blue.  Application is easy.  Deb is a genius.  Three coats.

Honey Bunny Lacquer Black Gives Way To Blue

Pretty Done has tiny silver bar glitter, tiny, small, and medium sized satiny white hexes, white, lavender, and orchid purple squares, large metallic purple dots, and large matte lavender stars in a clear base.  This base is thin and the large dots all sink to the bottom.  Fishing around yielded a star on every nail but it was very hard to get a dot.  I'd almost given up hope, but after much shaking and maneuvering of the bottle, I managed to snag one-- or rather, it happened to alight on the brush at the right second.  One coat over OPI Don't Burst My Bubble.

Honey Bunny Lacquer Pretty Done

Rotten Apple is a twinkly glitter of varying sized and predominantly red hexes, a nice amount of gold hexes, and medium red metallic circles that I couldn't get to materialize, in a clear base.  Some of the smaller red glitters do that gorgeous violet flash thing, which I love.  One coat over OPI Don't Touch My Tutu.

Honey Bunny Lacquer Rotten Apple

Love Song is a pretty rose and dark matte pink and matte white gold glitter in a clear base.  There are tiny bar glitters, tiny and small hexes and squares, and large matte rose colored hearts.  This base is thicker than Pretty Done so the large hearts all suspend nicely.  Those hearts look a little thick once on the nail but they aren't troublesome after a couple layers of topcoat.  I really like the matte white gold glitters-- they add a certain softness to this mix.  One coat over OPI My Pointe Exactly.

Frogs is a bright and twinkly predominantly kelly green metallic glitter in a clear base.  There are tiny and small green hexes and small green squares that flash a cool aqua, and small metallic royal blue hexes strewn throughout.  One coat over OPI I Theodora You.

Honey Bunny Lacquer Frogs

Sunshine is cool.  It's a variance of metallic red-orange and gold hexes and squares, small satiny cream colored hexes and squares, and medium sized satiny cream colored circles in a clear base.  The thickness of the base and the weight of the dots is in perfect balance here and they don't sink to the bottom, but come out easily and plentifully.  One coat over OPI Barre My Soul.

Honey Bunny Lacquer Sunshine

Last, but not least, is Dirt, a frosty, shimmery milk chocolate shade.  As with Black Gives Way to Blue, application is nice and easy, though this one is pretty brushstroke-y.  Still, or maybe because of that, I'm reminded of one of my favorite sets of pearls.  Two coats.

Honey Bunny Lacquer Dirt

The Alice In Chains collection is a really fun juxtaposition of glitter and rock and roll and if you're a grunge baby, you need these polishes in your life.  My must-haves are Sunshine and the remarkable Black Gives Way to Blue.  Hey Deb, can we get an Angry Chair or an It Ain't Like That? ;)
Honey Bunny lacquer is available in both 15ml bottles for $9 and 5ml bottles for $4.

  5. Your nubs are very elegant!!! You really carry-off any lenght of nails beautifully!! My favorites are (of course) the blue-end black and the small glitters. I particularly like that you showed the glitters over the soft shades. It gives such a perfect canvas for the glitter to live up!!!
