Jem and the Holograms is on Netflix now! My little kid self was totally into all of these things that my parents apparently thought were shallow and massive wastes of time, like Babysitters' Club and Sweet Valley Twins books (I had to sneak those into the house), Barbies and all the fabulous clothes that came with them (I've never owned a Barbie in my life), and Saturday morning cartoons about glamorous rock star gals with big hearts (if only my mom had looked past the fashion and fame!). So this morning I got my breakfast, sat on the couch, and settled in for a few episodes of Jem. Somewhere into the Battle of the Bands with the Misfits, I knew what color my nails were going to be for the rest of the weekend....
This is Zoya Kimber. I love that the fairies that be over at Zoya seem to have a small fixation with this awesome cartoon (see Jem and Roxy), and I hope they finish the Hologram-named polishes with Shana and Aja and venture deeper into the Misfits. I'd love to see a Stormer.
Anyway, Kimber is a playful, bright strawberry red shimmer, and another hit from the Surf collection, in my book. Two coats... crazy good application... awesome as usual. :)
And, Kimber Benton, herself, keyboardist and impetuous spitfire of the group. When I was in third grade, my three best girlfriends and I played Jem and the Holograms and lip-synched one of the songs in our school's talent show. Guess who I got to be. ;)
