Hi everyone!! I had a request (sort of; it was more like bouncing ideas
off and getting a positive response) to do a comparison between two
purple polishes with pink shimmer and lots of depth-- Max Factor Fantasy Fire and Cult
Nails Flushed.
The differences are obvious as soon as you start working with them. Index and ring-- Cult Nails Flushed; middle and pinky-- Max Factor Fantasy Fire.
Flushed is a cream based dusky purple with a subtle, slightly duochrome pink to gold shimmer, thin, but opaque in two coats.
Fantasy Fire is a bright violet jelly with a very flashy multichrome pink to gold to green shimmer and looks optimal by itself in four coats.
clockwise from top: Flushed, Fantasy Fire, Flushed, Fantasy Fire |
The differences in both base color and nature of the shimmers become more apparent when playing with sunlight and angles.
Bottom line-- both polishes are beautiful and unique, dramatic in their own ways, even as they share some basic ideas. To me, Fantasy Fire feels more summer and Flushed feels like fall. They're both worth having. Can you choose a favorite? I can't!
Thank you for reading and have a lovely day!! ♥
Great comparison of these two shades. There pretty similar shades but not totally dupes.
ReplyDeleteNope, not at all! The only similarity is the pink shimmer, really :)
DeleteThis is an awesome comparison! I have both of these, and it's great to see the differences!
ReplyDeleteThank you!! It's definitely fun to see the differences side by side. It's distracting while driving, though :)
DeleteGreat comparison Liesl!! I thought I possibly saw a dupe in Fantasy Fire compared to another polish but couldn't put my finger on what was the probable doppleganger, it was Flushed!! In the bottle they look like twins but with FF having more of the sparkling shimmer but yep, they're just sisters!! I need to check and see if I own Flushed because I really don't know if I do or not! If not, I'm getting it because by your swatches, it's needed!!! Flushed is definitely a deeper purple but both have a mesmeric shimmer!!!
ReplyDeleteFlushed is a must-have Cult, for certain! It's not on the website, though. I'd send an email and see what you come up with! Cult Nails has some of he best service I've ever experienced. Also I really like that you wrote "probable doppelganger" and not that other word, lolol :D
DeleteI love them both! Flushed is definitely a lemming. Can you imagine them layered over each other? My brain would probably explode but that's just a supposition.... but it totally would.
ReplyDeleteI very nearly did that but I stuck with the every other nail thing. I think you're absolutely right, though, these layered would likely cause some sort of adverse cranial reaction, and obviously be totally worth the trouble (and the mess).
DeleteAwesome post - thank you! Now I don't feel like I have to have Fantasy Fire.
ReplyDeleteBut... but... you do!! lol. J/k, thank you, I'm glad I could be of service! :)
DeleteI think both color are fantastic :-)
ReplyDeleteMe, too. I'm in 100% agreement with you :)
DeleteGreat comparison! I've always wondered about these two and how close they are. They are both gorgeous and different enough that it's worth having both. :)
ReplyDelete~ Yun
Thank you!! And I totally agree, they whet a slightly different part of our polish appetites, lol ;)
DeleteGreat comparison, as always. These are both lovely, but I'll tell you what...that Fantasy Fire is something else. Second from the bottom!! <3<3<3
ReplyDeleteAnd my photos don't even come close to doing it justice. The best shots of it are when layered over a blue base. There's a liveliness when the light hits it that appears to wig out every camera in the universe, lol.
DeleteI chime in with Melissa: great comparison!!! And I think there are the real NPA's unveiled (including me) - declaring that these two are totally different! I only have Flushed and the one or the other Fantasy Fire copy and while I love Fantasy Fire it is Flushed that would be choosen if I could wear 5 polishes for a full month only. To make the long story short: they are both worth owning and you show them off stunningly revealing more and more differences picture after picture xxx
ReplyDeleteWord! There are those who find FF overrated. I am not one of those. And as much as I think and say that I would go classic and wearable if given the choice, FF is the exception, though I find it so stunning that I would wear it with any and everything. If only MF would sell it in vats... And thank you ♥♥
