Zoya Naturel Deux |
Hi all!! Back at the beginning of July I saw an ad in the back of one of my magazines for Zoya Naturel Deux and I might have felt some heart palpitations. I flipped over the original Naturel collection {HERE} and the fact that a new set of gorgeous neutrals for fall was imminent nearly sent my polish loving heart over the edge.
Naturel Deux is another set of six neutral cremes, this time in warm shades, to usher in the jewel tones of fall. Rather than the natural gradient look of the original collection, Deux is very clearly divided into two subsets, browns and berries. Let's begin.
Zoya Spencer |
Zoya Spencer |
Spencer is a light, warm, ever so slightly blushed camel. If you're a fan of Flynn from Fall 2013's Cashmeres collection, but found it a little too yellow, Spencer might be your answer. It's beautiful and demurely chic, and boasts a superb formula. I used one (one!) coat, topped with one layer of topcoat.
Zoya Chanelle |
Zoya Chanelle |
Chanelle is a medium toned soft brown, again, with the slightest rosy undertones, and unexpectedly chic. It's got a crelly-ish formula, which makes it perfectly self leveling, and is full coverage in two coats. Finished with one layer of topcoat.
Zoya Emilia |
Zoya Emilia |
Emilia is a cool, slightly dusky sable. Every couple collections, Zoya presents one that takes my by surprise by not really resembling its promo photos, and Emilia is this one. It's not as rich or as dark as the promo shots suggest. It's not necessarily a bad thing, as Emilia is actually quite unique amongst darker brown cremes, due to the duskiness. Swirls of light and dark pigment are visible in the bottle, which I always find kind of cool. Emilia applies a touch darker than it appears in the bottle. The formula is very similar to Chanelle-- two coats provides full, even coverage. Finished with one layer of topcoat.
Zoya Marnie |
Marnie (or Marney, depending on if you believe the bottle or the website) is decadent, dramatic rich berry perfection. It's got a definite touch of vamp, making it a less buttoned up take on classic magenta. My photos aren't particularly accurate-- Marnie/Marney is deeper, richer, with a hint of brown that gives it resemblance to a dark chocolate raspberry truffle. It's pure glamour. Two easy coats, finished with one layer of topcoat.
Zoya Aubrey |
Zoya Aubrey |
Less vampy, slightly lighter than Marnie/Marney, is Aubrey, a sophisticated, updated berry mauve kissed by a hint of smoke. Aubrey is the easiest to wear and the most effortlessly chic and elegant shade of the set. Application is effortless, too-- two easy coats plus one layer of topcoat.
Zoya Madeline |
Zoya Madeline |
Madeline is classic rosy mauve perfection, a timeless shade you can feel comfortable inhabiting for days on end. Think of it as a white tee shirt, or in my case, black leather ankle boot, shade-- when you're at a loss, throw this on and you'll look stylish, comfortable, confident. Madeline is a must have staple in any self respecting nailista's wardrobe and a must have for anyone looking to build a solid foundation of great, classic colors with amazing formulas. Two coats plus one layer of topcoat.
Naturel Deux is another brilliant, cohesive collection from our Zoya faeries. My must haves are the the three berries-- Marnie/Marney, Aubrey, and Madeline. The collection is available for $9 a piece on zoya.com.
