Dress To Kilt is a glamorous red berry creme. It applies slightly
darker than the bottle indicates and that's just fine with me-- I love
the drama and the hint of vamp behind the classic shade and finish. The formula is super easy to work with and the tiny, thin brush is a pleasure for my small nailed self to use. I used two coats plus one layer of topcoat.
I purchased Dress To Kilt at Ulta for $8.50.
Thank you for reading and have a beautiful day!! ♥♥
Oh my, the red vamp fairies are calling my name on this one!! I always overlook Essie. Is that a bad thing? Maybe it's because I'm too busy buying other brands that I see swatches of :-( I know it sounds terrible but it's the truth! I totally need Dress to Kilt now for my tips and also for my TOES!! This would make a killer fall pedi fo sho!! Gorgeous swatches!! I miss de points but I understand :-) You can rock any nail shape!!
ReplyDeleteI always look through the Essie collections, like, numerous times, but I seldom purchase any. This one is too pretty to pass up, though, for sure. And you're right, it'd make a gorgeous fall pedi. I miss my points, too, but it is for a good cause, lol, and honestly, I thought I'd have to nubbify even more, but this isn't too bad ;)
DeleteWhat a nice deep red! Its perfect for the upcoming fall season too.
ReplyDeleteIt really is! So timeless but so spot on for fall, too.
Deletewow Gorgeous color!
ReplyDeleteYes :) :) I freakin' love it !
DeleteMaybe it's because I have a soft spot for kilts. Or maybe it's because I love a vampy blue-red berry. Heck, maybe it's because an Essie actually turned my head. :P But this is a lovely, lovely color that you totally rock. <3
ReplyDeleteThank you dahhhling :) You should totally get it! I believe your DH would approve :)
DeleteHi Liesl - gorgeous color for fall, and along with that silver ring you rock on that thumb it gets a rock'n roll feel - just awesome! I am the same regarding Essies - pictures of whole collections really appeal to me but individual polishes of them just don't call my name most of the time. That lil' number though is an entirely different matter oh and I think those berry-vamps look so much better on nubs than on loooong talons - happy Friday <3
ReplyDeleteI have six Essies total (I gave a seventh to my seester as it is very similar to one of my Zoyas) and I do enjoy them. Dive Bar was one of my first big polish lems and of course the magnificent Belugaria ♥♥♥ And I begrudgingly agree, lol, even though I'd happily sport any and all colors on pointy leetle talons, dark and vampy really does look neat on shorts. Happy weekend, sis, I hope you're having fun :( I can't believe it's been a week since you last posted!! :O)
Deletelove that color! making me excited for fall!
ReplyDeleteRight on :) Me, too, especially since it's a little rainy outside today ;)
DeleteThis is such a pretty colour - I like it :-) The name is funny as well. Since I'm Scottish I keep imagining kilts and it does not fit in with this gorgeous red :-O
ReplyDeleteHow are you getting on with the bass? What songs are you learning to play? When my hubby was teaching me I learned: The Chain (Fleetwood Mac), an 8 bar blues and Dazed & Confused (Led Zep).
I tend to think of blackwatch plaid when I see the word kilt, lol. Essie does choose some odd names, I agree :p
DeleteI'm not really trying to learn any songs yet... I'm a full month in and I've now learned all notes on the first four frets. I've learned a couple very, very (lol) basic 12-bar blues tunes and I play the occasional line to whatever my DH is playing on his ukulele if it's easy enough and if he cares to give me the chords, lol. Slow and steady, here :) :)
I know just what you mean about Essie collections. I usually like four or five, but can rarely narrow it down to one or even two that I love. So I often end up with none. But not this time! I'm a complete sucker for lush reds like Dress to Kilt, and I just got a coupon in the mail for $2 off an Essie. Is that a sign or what?!
ReplyDeleteI think their collection color schemes are some of the best and if I was actually into art, I'd have a LOT more Essies. I'm a sucker for reds, too-- the coupon is totally a sign! ♥♥
DeleteI am on the fence with this shade! and with the whole Essie collection in fact. By seeing your pics and other pics on blogs, I would just order the whole thing! but then I'm sure this wouldn't look as great on my matte yellow-y skin... I got the impression the whole collection is made for cool toned skin ladies :(
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm kind of a light olive so this might actually work on you, too. I think it's a fairly neutral red, to be honest-- I just googled some swatches and it looks gorgeous on every skintone I've seen :)
