Celestial Bon Temps-- True Blood Inspired Collection

Celestial Bon Temps collection swatch and review
Celestial Bon Temps collection

Hi everyone!!  Celestial Cosmetics and etailer Color4Nails have teamed up for the second year in a row to bring us a fall collaboration collection.  This year's set is titled Bon Temps named after the town in which vampire tv show True Blood is set and inspired by the popular show.  Bon Temps consists of six deep, dark, shimmery glassfleck duochrome beauties, similar in nature to this summer's Aurora {HERE}, which I adore.  This was an exciting set for me to open.  To avoid being repetitious-- each photo is shown in two coats with one layer of topcoat.

Celestial Bon Temps The First Taste swatch and review
Celestial Bon Temps-- The First Taste
I'll start by saying that this collection is blue heavy and three of the colors look remarkably similar in the bottle.  This had me a little worried but I was pleasantly surprised once I got them on my nails.  The First Taste is a navy blue to purple duochrome shimmer with a smattering of silver flecks, the darkest of the three blue tones and the subtlest color shifter.

Celestial Bon Temps Death Is Not The End swatch and review
Celestial Bon Temps--  Death Is Not The End
Death Is Not The End is a cerulean to magenta shifter (the gold shift you see in the bottle does not show up on the nail).  It's the brightest and most shimmer packed of the blues and the strongest shifter in the collection.  *Cat hair not included.

Celestial Bon Temps Sparks Fly Out swatch and review
Celestial Bon Temps-- Sparks Fly Out
Sparks Fly Out is a blackened teal glassfleck (there's a special place in my heart for blackened teal glassflecks) with the greatest abundance of silver flecks, the "sparks", which make the strongest appearance on the nail of these three, as the brightness of the glassfleck does a nice job of highlighting them.

Celestial Bon Temps Night On The Sun swatch and review
Celestial Bon Temps-- Night On The Sun
Night On The Sun is a dark forest green glassfleck shimmer with the same density of silver flecks as Sparks Fly Out.  Here, they show up very subtly amidst the darkness of the shimmer.

Celestial Bon Temps Soul Of Fire swatch and review
Celestial Bon Temps-- Soul Of Fire
Soul Of Fire is the standout of the collection, for me.  It's got the darkest base and what appears to be a slightly coarser grain of glassfleck in a fiery violet rose.  The silver flecks are here, too, but they do more to supplement the depth of the violet rose flecks rather than make their own presence known.

Celestial Bon Temps Release Me swatch and review
Celestial Bon Temps-- Release Me
Release Me is a golden moss green with the same coarseness of glassfleck as Soul Of Fire.  Release Me is the brightest and most shimmer saturated polish of this collection and despite the black base that is the running theme, dries and wears the lightest of the six.

In true Celestial fashion, the formulas are all fantastic-- perfectly controllable level of thickness and elementary application.  The Bon Temps collection release date is this Friday, November 7, at color4nails.com.

  1. These are pretty! I like how dark they are but you can still tell the difference between each shade.

    1. Hmmm.... I have an idea but it's all about the execution. It also depends on what your definition of the word "art" is, lolol ;)

  3. Love all of these, but Death is Not The End and Soul of Fire are my favorites.

  5. I love me some vampy shimmers. :) My favorite one is Sparks Fly Out, because I, too, have a soft spot for blackened teal. Nice to hear the formula was easy...blackened polishes usually make a hefty mess of my strange cuticles.

    1. Really? Strange that they would be any different... I guess maybe some blackened polishes tend towards the thin side. All that shimmer makes these super manageable, though.

  7. I love how vampy they are - and they're mostly blue, my favourite polish shade.

  9. Very pretty vampy shades, which is fitting for the collection name :) I'm only into the 2nd or 3rd season on Netflix and I stalled out. After the holidays I might start up again.

    1. We've never seen the show! We both dig vampire stuff so I don't know why...

  10. These are pretty but the blues ARE soooo super similar. Regardless, it's a nice collection and your swatches look so beautiful!

    1. They are... I had to take my photos in a very specific order. They're nearly indistinguishable in the bottle but on the nail it really comes down to a matter of taste, you know?
