I'm a big fan of stand-alone indie polishes, those that require no base color and are totally wearable on their own. Alanna Renee, a new polish maker out of Australia, has a full lineup of beautiful, unique, and packed with personality polishes as such. This one is Black Cherry.
Unless you've got the thing under a macro lens, Black Cherry looks fairly unassuming in the bottle-- variantly shaped red glitters in a black base with tiny, matte black glitters that seem superfluous as the base would all but hide them. You can imagine my surprise when I opened the bottle and saw that the base is actually a juicy, pinot noir colored jelly. The red glitters, of which there are many, come out plentiful and different on each nail; I predominantly got small hexes and medium squares. The large red hexes eluded me but this polish is so full of character that I hardly minded not being able to catch one.
Application is a breeze and the brush small, flat, and pliable. I used two coats of polish and two layers of topcoat here.
I just love this-- the juicy, vampy base, the subtlety of the glitters, the fact that Alanna successfully managed to turn a Bing cherry into a gorgeous nail polish.
Alanna Renee Black Cherry is available for purchase internationally at Color4Nails for $11. Orders are taken through email at color4nails21@gmail.com.
Thanks for reading and have a marvelous day! ☼

This is so pretty! I love the red glitters!
ReplyDeleteI love them, too-- so perfect with the base color. :)
DeleteI'm totally with you on the stand-alone indies. This is so unusual. I always seem to have some sort of food analogy...this one reminds me raspberry poppyseed dressing. It's just lovely. Your pics are great too! :)
ReplyDeleteYou think of dressing, I think of wine... hmmmm... Too bad we're not closer, we'd have to go get dinner ;) Thanks so much, sweets :)
DeleteIt looks amazing! The glitter in that juicy base color is to die for :)
ReplyDeleteIsn't it?! Such a perfect pairing ♥
DeleteOoh, this is really pretty!
ReplyDelete:) I think so, too!

ReplyDeleteThanks, Es :) I'm totally loving this one :)
DeleteWith so many indies its so hard to make a completely original polish. I feel like this one is one of a kind. Looks great Liesl!
ReplyDeleteI agree and I feel that way about this entire line. Def worth at least a look :)
DeleteI have never seen anything like that...beautiful! Your swatches are great.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much ♥ I agree, it's totally unique.
DeleteI love finding out about new indie brands!! And this polish does remind me of a black cherry... So beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteHey girlie!! :D Doesn't this look so deliciously juicy? :)

ReplyDeleteExactly :)
DeleteThis is so stunning. I think I am in love! It has so much depth and complexity for it just being a polish, and looks so sophisticated on your nails!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Margo :) You need this. I'm fairly certain you would rock it.
DeleteThat's gorgeous, Liesl! So squishy and shiny... love it! :D

Isn't it unique? I love it :)
DeleteOooh, it's so different, I love it! It has so much depth to it, gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI agree, it's one of the most unique polishes I've seen, and, yes, gorgeous :)
DeleteHi Liesl, soooo right up my alley, once more ;-)!!! There is nothing like a ripe black cherry on a hot summer day and this polish is so associated with a juicy cherry!!! Beautiful photos, beautiful nails, beautiful mani <3
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, ♥ I totally agree, and who would've thought a vampy jelly base would bring about visions of summer?
DeleteSo, I come across this polish on a blog sale, and something tells me I've seen it somewhere & liked it...so I went on over to Google images like I always do...and whose swatches do I find?! YOURS!!! hahaha :-D Yup, it's official, I need this one!
ReplyDeleteRight on! :) I hope you get it! It's such a cool polish, I really ought to suck up my huge dislike for glitter removal and wear this beaut again.
DeleteUgh, I hear ya...glitter removal is NOT my friend! I'm very tempted to try that Glitter A Peel base from Nail Pattern Boldness (it's on Llarowe). And I've been working on the Elmer's glue base too...just need to get it the right consistency.
