I think I'll just quit here, quit blogging so I can wear black polishes and OPI Ballet all the time. And, as it happened, this post was bound and determined to not happen on account of the fact that I seem to have forgotten how to paint my nails. Three sets of photos and as many nails redone, and here we are. I hate painting in black, but I looooove wearing it. Here's Zoya Raven, different from your average black because it's ever-so-slightly shimmery, which adds a little depth to its insane glossiness.
Raven's formula is thinner than I'm used to, as far as Zoya's concerned, but is opaque in two coats and dried in no time.
Saturday was Bastille Day, so in honor of it, I made my version of the Frenchest of French dishes, boeuf bourguignon (or in my case, faux boeuf).
That's vegetables, fake bacon, and fake beef tips slow cooked in almost a whole bottle of cabernet until the wine is reduced to a decadently rich, savory gravy. It may or may not contain a whole stick of butter. Freakin' yummmmm.
Have a marvelous Monday! Thanks for reading. :)
I.die.at.this.post. Black nails AND savory food. Heaven!!
ReplyDelete:D Pretty much!
DeleteI love the look of black too - but it's so not forgiving when you don't have a straight line. That's when Photoshop would come in handy, right? ;) Yours look great though. And in real life, no one ever gets close enough to see if my lines are straight.
ReplyDeleteTruly. I tried with what we have on Adobe, but it looked ridiculous, so these photos are as real as is gets... Lol. And yes, it looks fabulous in real life. ;)
DeleteMmm. That looks scrumptious! I want Raven now! A black WITH shimmer?! Yes, please! I'm crazy for Zoya's shimmery polishes. Well, now I'm hungry. Thanks a lot, Liesl. :-P
ReplyDeleteTee hee hee, I guess we're even! ;)
DeleteOh my, that food looks delicious! :D :D
ReplyDelete~ Yun
Thanks, Yun, it was. :D
DeleteI know that feeling! I think that I'd only wear blues and greens if it wasn't for the blog.
ReplyDeleteAnd that food looks so yummy!
:) I'd probs throw some reds in the mix, too. And thanks, it was deeeeelish!
DeleteThat black is so so pretty! It just looks so shiny and gorgeous. And your dinner looks INCREDIBLE! I had no idea faux beef tips existed!
ReplyDeleteHaha, you learn something new every day! And thank you :) :)
DeleteThis is a fabulous black, I love it!
ReplyDeleteMe, too! I have this challenge I'm starting tomorrow, otherwise I'd wear it for a few days. :)
DeleteI just had dinner and you made me hungry again!! this looks soo good!!
ReplyDeleteI don't have Raven... I never knew it was shimmery!! now I need this =)
Hee hee, I'm eating leftovers while I'm responding to comments... Lol. And yes, you do need Raven. ;)
DeleteNEED THIS POLISH!
ReplyDeleteYou totally do! It's amazing. I was sad to take it off.
DeleteWould you mind sharing that recipe? I used to LOVE the original version of that dish, but have yet to see a vegetarian or vegan version! :)
ReplyDeleteI actually used the original recipe, but in lieu of all the bacon and beef fat, I used more butter. Also, I cut the oven time down to two hours, because there is no meat that needs to tenderize, and the wine will have reduced enough by then, anyway. Oh, and mushroom or veg stock instead of beef stock.
DeleteThank you so much! All good tips :)
