Butter London La Moss

Good evening!!  December is upon us and many lovely and festive things are in store, but first I need to show you this amazing color.  This is Butter London La Moss, a gorgeous warm burgundy jelly, in three coats.

Yes, raining again, lol.
A few weeks ago I told you about Julep Lindsay, another beautiful, dark, and vampy jelly that's currently unavailable, and I mentioned that La Moss is a potential dupe.  It's definitely in the same family, but La Moss has a touch of brown that makes it a little warmer, a little cozier, and somehow more macabre.  It's a fantastic color and yet again makes me question my undying love of red cremes.  Those are great-- classic, sexy, and expressive-- but a good vampy, high gloss cabernet color perfectly balances the sex appeal of red with the edginess of black, and somehow manages to feel more wearable than both.  Every polish lover should have a shade like this in his or her collection, and as far as formulas go, La Moss can't be beat.  It's got a lovely stay put formula that wears well, which in my line of work means I get to go two days in a row before I have to redo it.
In other news, I did a bunch of holiday baking this weekend, and my least successful venture were these candy cane cookies.  This is the idea, but mine ended up looking like this....

Yeah... the one in the lower right looks like an inverted question mark.
How's your holiday baking coming?  Got any favorite recipes?
And back on topic, what one color do you think every nailista ought to have in his or her collection?

  2. I love this colour! I honestly have shades just like this but I would still consider getting this. I'm a sucker for vampy colours. Especially reds!

And I LOVE baking ginger snaps and the less traditional chocolate chip and bacon cookies! Yummy!

    1. Chocolate chip and bacon sounds kind of awesome... I may have to try that with my Morningstar fake bacon, lol.

  3. Beautiful mani! And cute cookies:) I think every nailista ought to have a dark grey creme in their collection. It goes with everything and I think it looks great with every skin tone. I have NARS Storm Bird on today for our family pictures:) I really think it's my new favorite polish!!

  5. Love this color! Vampy jellies look so edge-y and fashionable!! And nice job on the cookies, I would love to try baking those myself, looks fun! Practice always helps. Usually my first few cookies would come out funky but I'm a fast learner :)

    1. Google Pillsbury candy cane cookies, the recipe should come up. I have a little recipe booklet my DH jacked from one of his mom's magazines because he thought those cookies looked good. If you make them you should post a picture of yours :) :)

  6. I love vampy jellies. This is fabulous on you.

Your candy canes are great. Christmas cookies are the best! My mom would always make way too many Christmas cookies so she froze the extras and we would have Christmas cookies to thaw out and enjoy during the beginning of the new year.

    1. That is a fabulous idea! How lovely of your mom. I've got to say, marathon baking sessions are very tiring! I was on my feet making stuff for six and a half hours the night I made these. So satisfying, though, to see the end product, and then eat it. And share it :)

    1. Sweet. :) I like it, too. A lot. I'm pretty sure my red cremes have been dethroned.

  10. Does anyone know a dupe for this one? Can't really get hold of this in Denmark! :(

    1. The only dupe I know of for certain is another US only brand, and it's not exact... I know wine shades like this are fairly prolific, though. I just looked up a few for fun... If you get L'Oreal, there's one called Haute Couture Red. Or Essie Wicked, not sure if that one's international, though... I hope this helps, some.
