Sally Hansen Nail Prisms Amber Ruby

I'm feeling a high level of duochrome love right now and the ridiculously shifty-gorgeous Sally Hansen Nail Prisms Amber Ruby is gracing my nails at the moment.

If you want to know how I really feel, any Prism is a good Prism, but the dark duochromes just rock my socks.  Amber Ruby is an amazing shifter that goes from ruby to brick red to syrupy amber to golden, with the occasional flash of green, just to keep things interesting.  And, it's laced with dark red shimmers and gives off this incredible glow.  This polish seriously has it all.
Some of the darker SH duochromes are sheer and sort of jelly-like and some are more metallic in nature, like this one.  It's opaque in two coats and dries in a reasonable amount of time.  The formula's a little thin, but not unmanageable.  Amber Ruby is pretty readily available on Amazon and ebay, for about the price of a Butter London, including shipping.

  1. Wow, this one is really pretty! For some reason I am not crazy about duochromes. :-\ I have several, but for some reason they don't move me (I realize that I am in the minority on this). LOL I only have 1 Sally Hansen Nail Prism...it's a silver holographic polish. I don't even know what the name of it is. I obviously was not into polish when SH did the holographic nail prisms because I would've searched high and low for them!

Btw, did you order your 3 free Zoyas, yet?

    1. I did! And I had totally held off until I saw your comment, lol. Like, I went straight from here to Zoya's site. I got Suvi, Jem, and Crystal. ;)
You have Diamond! I wonder if you have the linear or the scattered holo. SH put out multiples of the same name, but with different shades or formulas. It's funny how different finishes just don't thrill everybody. I've heard gals not taken with holos, or glassflecks, even (both of which, like duochromes, I looooove). I'm not huge on glitters, or indies in general, really, and I feel very much in the minority, there. I do have a favorite brand, though. There are always exceptions ;)

    2. Funny, because when I asked you I hadn't yet made my Zoya purchase. LOL I did on Saturday and ordered Aurora, Marley (I initially owned but sent to a friend and then wanted it again - lol) and Logan. I love your picks. :) I have Jem and of course, Crystal. I don't own Suvi though, but I did pick a green this go around. I have so many Zoya polishes, it's hard for me to choose now. LOL

Oh shoot, I meant to swatch my SH silver holo polish. I'll do that tonight (if I remember). LOL My favorite finish is creme, but my love for holos is right on the heels of my beloved cremes. I do have some glitters (but they are my least favorite), they are just so hard to remove and I'm just not fond of the foil method or any polish that doesn't just require a few swipes to remove. So I'm with you on the glitters & indie polishes - just not my cup of tea.

  2. Hi Liesl, oh my socks tap along - LOL. This duochrome is awesome on you. I am with you, I am a sucker for dark duochromes right now - I got some from Crows Toes ordered through Llarowe - I had Merope from them on my nails and literally walked into a lamp pole while ogling my nails - ehem :-S <3

    1. I picked up this one last summer and I've been dying to try it (I had to wait till the proper season, though, lol). You should totally hunt yourself down some! This one's pretty easy to find. Reasonable price, too.
