Sally Hansen Nail Prisms Garnet Lapis

Good morning!!  It's been a couple weeks since I've had to be up this early (in my world, that's 6:30 am).  I'd momentarily forgotten how not fun it is, lol.  The cure?  More duochrome.  (Sorry.  Tired.  That's the best I can come up with at this point.)
This is Sally Hansen Nail Prisms Garnet Lapis.  The force is strong with this one.

Garnet Lapis is a shimmery, jelly like azure/cerulean to royal purple duochrome.  SO gorgeous, but not really garnet-y in any sense of the word.  It's more Lapis Amethyst, if you ask me, but that's another polish entirely.  It's not really lapis-y, either, come to think of it, because lapis is more of a darker, truer, dustier blue.  Whatever.  The color shift is beautiful and super strong.  If you look carefully at the bottle or submerge your nails in water, you can even see an outline of gold.
Because it's more jelly, the formula goes on thin.  I used three coats here, which is adequate.  Four may or may not be better; I've had mixed results using more than three coats with the sheerer Prisms.
Garnet Lapis is one of the harder to find Prisms, so when it appeared on amazon last summer, I dove on it, and I'm so glad I did .

Thanks for reading! ♥

  3. This is a stunner of a shade - I so wish SH would bring this line back I think they tried with the 4 shades that Lava was one of - forgetting the ltd line name now - but they were not like the old Prisms and only Lava really 'did' anything much...there were a few dogs in the Prisms line but as a whole most were really great...it was like they came out before their time and we just did not expect much from drugstore brands so they basically did not sell well - then bloggers seem to find them right when they were on close out and started to write about them...now it's all history. I would rather have a ton of these than many of the glitter indies that are out there at a higher cost...I am getting glittered out - but I never tire of great duochromes.

    1. I agree with your last statement 100% :) There are always exceptions, but duo/multichromes are def my favorite type of effects polish. There are a few duochrome indies out there... Crow's Toes just released a line of them that I've read are pretty sheer and best as topcoats, but the colors are gorgeous and I love the direction they're taking. And I know I was a little bummed that the recent SH duochrome line was mostly just dupes of stuff released earlier in the year. I felt like Moonstone, the white one, was reminiscent of the old duochromes. I didn't pick it up, though, lol. SH did a great job of creating a cult classic with these Prisms. I'm thinking about writing them directly and inquirring about a coule of the really rare colors.
