Cover Girl Pina Colada + Julep Camille

My introductory Julep Maven box arrived in the mail yesterday, so naturally, I dug right in.  Julep lets you choose add-ons to go with your boxes from time to time, and I decided to be adventurous and chose "mystery polish", lol.  It turned out to be one of those gorgeous opalescent glitters a la Essie Shine Of The Times.  Also new to my stash this week is one of the new Cover Girl Glosstini summer polish minis, a soft pastel yellow. I thought the two might play kind of nice together.

Here's Cover Girl Pina Colada with Julep Camille accents.

Cover Girl Glosstinis are a collection of four or five mini sized (3.5 ml) brightly colored creme and jelly polishes for summer.  They retail for $2.49.  Pina Colada struck me as being similar to Butter London's Jasper, one I've been lemming a little but unsure of due to such a hefty price tag on a yellow.  So this little one is perfectly noncommittal.  The cool thing is, it's actually a fairly wearable yellow, a pretty lemon creme with decent application.  I needed three coats to get rid of most streakiness, and like a lot of pastels, that won't rid you of the problem entirely, but a good layer of topcoat will make it barely noticeable.   The little bottles are adorable and Pina Colada is totally worth having in your collection.

Ahh Julep, it's so nice to have you back in my life ♥  Apparently Camille was originally in the March mystery boxes, so I was pretty stoked to see that this was my mystery add-on this month.  Camille is an opalescent small and very small glitter suspended in a clear base.  There are lots of toppers out there similar to this but Camille is different because it's an actual glitter, not a flakie.  So it gives the same effect as a flakie but is a little daintier.  The formula's really thick and gooey but it oddly doesn't affect application.  One coat deposits lots of glitter onto the nail and dries nice and quickly.

Both polishes are super pretty and I love how delicate and springy Camille looks over Pina Colada.  I'm excited to play with it over some darker shades, too.
Cover Girl Pina Colada is currently available at Fred Meyer (I haven't checked anywhere else, but Rite Aid is usually pretty up on the new collections, too).  Julep Camille is not available for sale on the website but if you sign up and get the mystery add-on (which with the special $9.99 introductory box will kick you into free shipping territory) there's a chance this'll be it, especially if you're a Classic With a Twist, like me.  If you're interested, you can use my referral link and give me bonus points for free boxes in the future ;) Follow this link.  Eventually I'll get a button placed in my sidebar but not today, lol.

Have an amazing weekend and thank you for reading!

    1. It's not my favorite color, either, but I'm a little obsessed with them, anyway. I think I like the challenge of trying to wear them. I'm glad you like this one :)

  8. Hi sis - there, you do it again: you finally convince me with those great pictures that a soft yellow is a real win for any stash and since I don't own a bottle, I gotta change this now. And the Julep glitter? A bomb, haven't we been flodded with anything but neutral glitters lately? There are so few out there that are neutral AND stunning, so I already look forward to seeing you play with it :-)!!! Have a lovely Sunday xxx

    1. You are so very sweet, sis :) It really is a lovely, creamy shade and easier to wear than those bright sunshine yellows. I just adore this glitter, maybe because of the fact that it's neutral... I never thought of that, but you're totally right.

    1. I haven't been interested in the new Cgs either for the same reason... lots of stuff I already have, I think... This one totally caught my eye, though, and the cute little size and price certainly didn't hurt :)
I hope you do try out Julep! Their polishes are super fun and it's very easy to skip a month if you want/need to. ♥
