Good morning!! It appears I'm finding my way into full-fledged glitter lover-dom.
Shades of Phoenix is an Australia-based indie polish maker with a propensity for Greek mythology. This is her namesake glitter, from the 'In The Beginning' collection, layered over OPI Barre My Soul.
I've always been, at the very least, really particular about my glitters but the fact is, once you find a good one and get it on your nails, it's all over. Phoenix is stunning. Just amazing. It's appropriately red dominated, with red hex glitters that flash magenta, teal and silver holographic square glitters, peridot-colored hex glitters, and tiny holographic and silver glitters suspended in a clear base. There's a lot going on in here and the effect is beautiful.
The formula is insanely good, too. Application is elementary. Each brushstroke deposits a nice amount of each glitter onto the nail and one coat is lovely. Two coats starts to give the glitter a natural gradient-like effect, which is what I did for these photos. This ended up requiring a second layer of topcoat, but as you can see, these glitters are well-behaved and lay nice and flat. The base isn't thick or gooey, either, so drytime is minimal and thickness all depends on just how much of these gorgeous glitters you want piled on your nails.
Shades of Phoenix Phoenix is available for sale internationally (yes!) at Color4Nails for $11. Orders are taken through email at color4nails21@gmail.com.
Thanks for reading and may the day be gentle with you ♥♥

DeleteI love seeing beautiful glitter manicures and this one is just that...beautiful. *Almost* makes me want to jump on the glitter bandwagon, but alas, the horrid removal process makes me come to my senses. LOL This is so pretty though.
ReplyDeleteBtw, your style of writing is just so lovely. Not only do we get to view your beautiful swatches, but we also get the pleasure of reading your beautiful prose.
:) :) :) Thank you so much for your words, Crystal :) I kind of just want to make my response a bunch of smileys, lol. How's that for beautiful prose? ;)
DeleteYeahhhh, the removal process... I'm hoping, since I'm wearing a jelly base, then whole thing will just peel off and then I won't have to worry about it. I totally get where you're coming from.
Amazing!! Looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks, S :) It's one of the prettiest I've seen.
DeleteThis is so pretty! I'm really loving indie glitters!
ReplyDeleteAwesome :) This one's an amazing one. The gal behind Shades of Phoenix really knows her stuff.
DeleteWow, I'm a little bit stunned at how pretty this is. The color combination in particular is gorgeous. I love this!
ReplyDeleteTee hee, right on :) My husband was all, "Christmas!!!" when I unwrapped it. It is totally beautiful.
DeleteThis is stunning! I really like how you paired it with the base color. Makes the glitter easy to see. Great job as always.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sara :) I'm really liking light jelly bases for chunky glitters for the same reason. This one definitely deserves to be seen.
DeleteWOW factor to the max - I love this!!
ReplyDeleteI thought you might ♥ Was wishing you were with me to ooh and ahh as I unwrapped and opened it. DH responded appropriately, though :)
DeleteOooh it's like a party on your nails! So pretty. And I like how you layered it over a neutral color... great combo. :D
ReplyDelete~ Yun
Thanks, Yun :) My DH keeps saying that, too, and renaming the thing, lol.
DeleteThe glitter is gorgeous! Lovely swatches :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, sweets, and I agree- totally gorgeous. :)
DeleteHi Liesl, just perfect sis!!! There is nothing like adding a glitter over a neutral base!!! Beautiful photos :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Christine ♥ A neutral base just emphasizes the beauty of the glitters that much more, I think.
