LynBDesigns Spike

 *press sample

The Land Before Time has got to be one of the best and most adorable cartoons ever made-- little child-age dinosaurs learning how to cope with loss, survival, acceptance, and friendship, all while looking SO, SO CUTE!!  LynBDesigns has a full collection inspired by the little critters.  This is Spike, named for the pithy stegosaurus with a big appetite.  I've always had a soft spot for stegs.

LynBDesigns Spike

Spike is a gorgeous and complex chunky glitter topper.  It's got tiny black and gold glitters, a smattering of iridescent pink squares, emerald green squares, satiny spring green hexes, holographic gold hexes, and large, yellow gold flower shaped glitters suspended in a clear base.  The mix has a tendency to flash blue-violet and teal.  It's a wonderfully whimsical glitter with excellent payoff.  The flower glitters are plentiful and accessible-- no fishing required.  I used one coat of glitter and got at least one flower on each nail.  I'm not quite sure how Jenna got such large glitters to suspend so nicely, but I'm impressed.  The only problem is placement.  These flowers will need to be placed side down on the nail to fit the curvature, or they will curl (you can see a minor and major curl on my ring finger).  It's a small amount of extra effort to make a lovely glitter look its best.  I used one thin and two thick layers of topcoat.

I layered Spike over three coats of OPI Barre My Soul.  I've been loving chunky glitters over neutral jellies lately :)
Spike and the rest of the Land Before Time collection are available for purchase internationally for $8 at LynBDesigns' etsy shop.  Like LynBDesigns on facebook to keep up with specials and new releases.

Thank you for reading and have an amazing day!  I totally want to go watch this movie again. ♥♥

    1. Aren't they?! I didn't notice them just looking at the bottle so it was a totaly fun surprise as I put the polish on.

  2. Very cute! I love glitter that looks like it has pepper in it...sounds crazy but I always like glitter when it looks like salad dressing. But I have never seen The Land Before Time. That was after my time, LOL...sometimes when I read posts by all you whippersnappers, I feel like I'm from the land before time... :/

    1. Rofl. Ohh, Melissa.... And you and your food references! It does look like pepper, though, I have to agree. I've got another glitter that has the same type of thing.

    2. Bwahahaha!!! :-P "I feel like I'm from the land before time..." :-P Oh WHATever! You're so not. I feel like all 4 of us are the same age. However, I think I'm technically the youngest of the bunch. :-/ (27.5) But all my closest friends are between the ages of 35-55, so yeahhh...I've always been told I have an old soul.
ANYhoo...I'm so glad to see you picked up some LynBDesigns too, Liesl! I have 3 of her polishes. SO purty!! And this DOES rather remind me of a salad. Lol! Btw, the second I saw your photo in PAA, I KNEW the base was an OPI NYC Ballet polish. ;-) You've made me want You Callin' Me a Lyre? Or Barre My Soul. I can't believe you don't like the names! (I read your original post about them. ;-) )

    3. I feel the same way :) You need BOTH OPIs, girlie, you'll find uses for both of them. I love Barre My Soul as a base for chunky glitters and Lyre is jut one of my all time favorites, it's such a gorgeously vital looking pinky peach. Which LynBs do you have? I totally dig her vision.

    4. Yay! Old souls unite! :-)
Ohh I need both of them, huh? ;-) Oookay, well hopefully I find them cheap on a swap or something... I'm totally obsessed with jellies for some odd reason.
I have You Are the Brute Squad, Mutual Weirdness, and I Don't Like them Sam I Am. I've only blogged about IDLTSIA (LOLOL!) so far.

    5. Oh yeah, I forgot that one was one of hers! It's so hard to keep up with all these indies sometimes, lol. I think that needs to be an ecard. And jellies are awesome! Nothing odd about an obsession with squishy, glossy goodness in the least :)

  7. Hi Liesl, chunky glitters over nude shades is so right up my alley. Your nails look beautiful and the photos are awesome!!! I experienced the curling thing with such big glitters as well sometimes but I agree with you, no big deal to place them properly on the nail ;-)
