Femme Fatale The Fallen Kingdom (on semi-nubs)

Morning, friends :) How was your weekend?  Mine was largely unproductive.  Long, late naps were taken and chores ignored.  C had to work so I bacheloretted it up for the better part of it, lol.  Kinda glad it's over.

Sooo I have super short nails for the moment (comparitively speaking).  I had a surface crack in my left index that was starting to drive me batty so I just decided to file.  I had about a week's worth of posts lined up but now it's time to get real, lol.  I hate filing, it makes me super nervous, so I'll let my nails get as long as they can and that's not always a good thing.  I feel like they were just starting to push the limits of actually looking good, so this might be for the best.  And so, without further ado, I present to you my semi-nubs.  I don't think they've been this short since this past spring.

The past few weeks have been filled with Celestial Cosmetics/Color4Nails collaborative collection commemorating the tv show Game of Thrones, but the C4N excitement doesn't stop there.  They've also got an exclusive limited edition polish collab with another Aussie indie maker, Femme Fatale.  Also based on the aforementioned popular series, this polish is called The Fallen Kingdom.
The Fallen Kingdom is a murky grey base packed with pink and mauve shimmer, tiny, small, and medium sized peach, mauve, and magenta round glitters, and small and medium peach and mauve hex glitters.  All sizes of mauve glitters flash holographic.  It's a chunky glitter, so I opted to layer one coat over NARS Storm Bird, a medium toned shark grey creme.

The Fallen Kingdom is a pretty complex polish.  I adore anything with that violet holographic flash and it was kind of surprising in this mix.  It's such a warm and cozy blend of colors and the shimmer is just beautiful.  It's very similar to one of my favorite big brand colors this fall, Essie Sable Collar, but festive.  So pretty.  The formula is spot on, too-- the glitters are plentifully deposited onto each nail with no fuss whatsoever, and all are small enough that they lay perfectly flat with no trouble.  In one coat, The Fallen Kingdom isn't topcoat hungry, either-- one layer of a nice, thick topcoat smooths this out perfectly.

  2. This polish is positively beautiful. I love a violet flash too...it gives it such an interesting complexity. This is one of my favorites you've featured lately. And your nails still look pretty darn long. <3

    1. Isn't it neat? And thank you, I'm glad you like it and fwiw, I think it'd look beautiful against your porcelain skin :) My nails aren't as short as they were, say, a year ago, but I still miss the length. I was cleaning out some of my swatch files on the computer and getting all saaad, lol.

  4. Hehe your nubbins look awesome! For me, I don't particularly enjoy the process of filing, but I do love how my nails feel right after when they are at their shortest. This color is so pretty! I love the color combination of the glitters and base. :)

    1. I do appreciate how sharp and clean they look but only when I do it on my terms. This wasn't exactly on my terms, lol. And thank you :) I must say, it's nice to be able to apply my face cream without getting it all underneath my talons, lol.

    1. Oh stopppp ♥♥♥ I like the combo a lot, too, but I really want to try it over Essie Sable Collar next since they're a near match.

  6. I wish I had your "nubbins" at the moment. After my bad break I just decided to file them all down and now I have shorties. But I just keep reminding myself they will grow out and in the mean time I can rock all of my vampies since they look so great on short nails.

    1. I saw that on IG :( You have such nice, long nail beds, you can more easily get away with shorties, and yes, you ROCK those vampies! ♥

  7. Beautiful nails sis!!! And filing gives me the creeps, like when chalk screeches over a blackboard, so I always cut them and opt for minimal filing ;-)!!! The Fallen Kingdom looks drop dead gorgeous and I might give it a try. As of late I wasn't all that exited over FF's formula, too chunky but hmmmm this really Looks just too good!!!

    1. Thanks so much, sis ♥ Filing does have an intensely irritating quality about it but my dislike stems from my fear that I'll file off too much or that I'll file unevenly. So the other photos I've seen of The Fallen Kingdom reflect your statement about thickness, and that's why I opted to use it as a topper. I think it looks neater, you know?

    2. Would you be surprised to learn that I went hunting for this polish right after commenting? I have Stars Lament and it is like yours and I have Wolfsbane and even applying just one coat over a base was like Chutney - I think this is hit or miss ;-)! I ordered two of the new holos of FF and am curious to try them....

    1. Isn't it?! I was floored when I saw how similar the base is to Sable Collar. Like, what are the odds, you know? An indie and a mass market.

  9. I've always loved whatever nail length you show. They all look good on you:) This is a really pretty Fall polish. It would look good with our weather right now in Minnesota.

    1. You're so sweet, Es ♥ I still can't believe you're getting snow already. We had our first frost only a couple nights ago.
