Hi all!! Not too long ago I was introduced to a great niche and indie beauty stocklist, gloss48.com. If you have the time, click on the link and have a ball exploring. Gloss48's products are all tried and tested by their dedicated and cosmetically adventurous team, presented with the exact reason each product was chosen to be featured on the site. The guesswork and tedium of wading through the supersaturated market of niche beauty products has been done for us. Read more about the gloss48 team {HERE}.
I was recently given the opportunity to try out a few of gloss48's featured products, including a nail polish by Wisconsin-based indie Alter Ego called Traffic Lite Tester.
Alter Ego Traffic Lite Tester |
I admit to being underwhelmed by Traffic Lite Tester when I unwrapped it. It's a bright red, green, gold, and antique gold glitter suspended in a clear base. The antique gold gives Traffic Lite Tester a dirty, murky appearance inside the bottle but translates beautifully on the nail. My Christmas-loving husband declared this one an immediate favorite.
Alter Ego Traffic Lite Tester |
Gloss48 states they love Traffic Lite Tester because it is full coverage in one coat and that was most certainly not my experience. It's a pretty typical densely packed fine glitter formula in that it can definitely be worn on its own if you don't mind a little negative space (more noticeable in macro than in real life), but I used three coats to reach this opacity; it could clearly double as a gorgeous effects topcoat. The brush is thick and moplike and the formula itself on the thick side. It levels nicely, though, and dries to a semi matte finish, which I didn't feel set off these pretty little glitters to their best advantage. I finished this with one layer of a thick and glassy topcoat and could have gone with two-- Traffic Lite Tester is, depending on how you choose to wear it, textured and topcoat hungry.
Traffic Lite Tester is sold as part of a duo {HERE} for $17.

What a festive looking glitter that is! Really nice.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it? :) It wants a little black dress to complement.
DeleteThis will be nice for holiday mani's but I agree - doesn't look like a one coater to me at all.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I have no idea where that came from... Still super pretty, though :)
DeleteThat one definitely screams Christmas!
ReplyDeleteAnd it's funny because I thought it was a multicolor until I put it on my nails... lol....
DeleteBeautiful shade!

ReplyDeleteIt makes me think of that song Silver Bells :)
DeleteIt's like a glittery Christmas! pretty =)
ReplyDeleteWould you believe I somehow thought they were rainbow glitters until I put the stuff on? lol.

ReplyDelete:) :) Thank you so much for your kind words! I do aim to be thorough when it comes to my experiences. This one was fun to photograph, I've got to say :)
DeleteLove fine glitters like these to go over an accent or with nail art! Pretty!
ReplyDeleteI think this'll be gorgeous over a super yellow gold-- one of the Twilight Essences comes to mind :)
DeletePerfect Christmas lacquer!
ReplyDeleteIt really is :)
DeleteI love microglitters, and this one is so pretty and glowing. It reminds me of a Christmas party. And cocoa.
ReplyDeletePeppermint cocoa? Wait, that was that pink foil Essie gave to me...
DeleteI have been wearing Alter Ego polish for a long time and love the brand. The formula is unique and terrific (shake those bottles because it settles!) and the choice of regular matte finish or topcoating for unexpected depth with the shine is really fun. Her bigcartel store is featuring the holiday collection right now.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your input and info :)
