L'Oreal Diamond In The Rough

Good morning and happy Sunday!!  If you're on my LLPT facebook page, you might have seen or responded to yesterday afternoon's little query for advice on what to wear next/show you all on la blog.  The answer, amongst three choices, was pretty overwhelmingly L'Oreal Diamond In The Rough, and the scales tipped (in my mind) in large part due to my little sister's comment that I should imagine Jafar, Disney villain extraordinaire, saying the name to me.  That is half the reason I picked this particular color up-- Jafar's been my favorite Disney villain since I saw Aladdin the first time.  I can't explain why.  His voice?  One liners?  Overall appearance?  Not sure.  I only wish I could locate the little plastic Jafar figurine my mom gave me for Christmas one year.  It's stashed safely away somewhere; it would have made a most excellent prop to this polish. :)

L'Oreal's joined the textured polish bandwagon and done so in a beautiful and easy to wear manner.  The Gold Dust collection, their holiday lineup of six colors, are dusty, muted, and sparkly, in timeless shades, with the exception of one that looks to be an OPI Tiffany Case copy, surprisingly unique to the trend.  Diamond In The Rough is a warm silvery taupe texture with larger, monochromatic hexes that flash a little lavender-pink.

This is as perfect as textured polish gets.  The formula is easy to control, the taper and fan of the L'Oreal brush fits the nail curvature to a t, the color is lush and saturated in two coats, and it all dries in remarkably quick time.

I'm a fan of L'Oreal polishes and I always look forward to their seasonal offerings.  This lineup does not disappoint, and if you've not yet tried on a textured polish, this is a great, accessible place to give the trend a go.  These polishes retail for $6.99 each, $1 more than the brand's smooth finish polishes.  I picked mine up at Fred Meyer.

Thank you for reading and enjoy your Sunday! ♥

  1. Wow...looks beautiful on you! I had considered getting this one up too, because it looked so pink in the store, but it looks just barely pink on your nails! I am a tremendous fan of this line, and your pics are perfect. <3

Your favorite villain is Jafar, huh? Mine is Maleficent. So we both love the tall, angular-featured speech-givers...what does that say about us?? :P

    1. The funny thing is, it's pretty true to the color in the bottle but I would not have pegged it as a taupe. And now that I've had it on for a couple days, I don't even remember what I was thinking when I bought it... I might have been mesmerized by the name, lolol.

And, our villain preferences says one of two things-- we would be highly formidable as Disney villains, and/or it's probably a good thing that we are not :)

  2. Oooh! I must check out this line. I've been so into textured polishes lately, so this is right up my alley! :D Hehe Aladdin's one of my favorite Disney movies and I totally agree that Jafar's just awesome. Talking about it makes me want to watch Aladdin again. :)

    1. Even that white China Glaze? :D I kind of want that one just so I can see it in person, on the nail, even just once. I've been totally loving textures since the OPI Bond Girls and it kind of surprises me, since I haven't been really into the finish o' the year stuff.
I have to find my little Jafar toy! lol. I know it's around here somewhere...

    2. Ha, no I'm less into that one. :P I love my textures to be shimmery and glittery, so I tend to gravitate towards Zoyas and OPIs. Recently, I've been wearing the new OPI MC liquid sands over and over. :)

    3. I think I might actually favor the OPIs, simply because I loved the Bond Girls collection so much. I haven't yet picked up any of the new MC liquid sands, but you did make me buy Ski Slope Sweetie, lol :)

    1. Thanks, sweets ♥ They did do a really nice job on their textures, if this one is a good indicator. I think I'll pick up another today, actually... Good luck on the no buy, I should probs try one of those, myself.

    1. Is it that Golden Rose? Apparently I was wrong about it being unique, lol... maybe to us US gals it is :)
