Celestial Cosmetics Meteoroid and Aurora

Remember when you first started your nail polish hobby, and every other color was just mindblowingly fascinating?  And your stash grew, and things just kind of got less exciting, just because you'd already seen so much, and more or less knew what to expect?  It's the whole magic of the first time thing and when you're years into a hobby, things just don't fascinate you nearly as often, nor in quite the same way.  Sometimes, though, a polish will come along and grab you to the point where you've just got to have it and BAM, that magic is back again.  That happened to me twice, recently, perhaps in part because they're both from one of my very favorite indies, so I already knew the formulas would be outstanding, but also because they both collectively share everything I love in an effects polish-- holo, duochrome, and glassfleck.  Allow me to present Celestial Cosmetics Meteoroid and Aurora.

Meteoroid is a linear holographic sage green, to taupe, to silvery lavender, to bronze metallic based shifter with distinctly separate personalities in and out of direct sunlight.  Two coats, one layer of topcoat.  It's just so... different.  And ridiculously cool.

Aurora is a deep, dark glassfleck and the world needs more deep, dark glassflecks.  This one's got a blackened jelly base packed with bright green to violet purple shifting flecks.  It's one of those that looks quite dubious on the first coat but as soon as you begin applying the second, you realize you've found something remarkable.  Two coats and one layer of topcoat.

  1. Thump! That was me hitting the floor upon seeing those two beauties!!! Holy cow, they are mindblowing!!! And both look stunning on you!! You word it so aptly - we did get polish-picky didn't we? On the other hand we also know enough to not get fooled easily anymore which I like too and while I get swooped off my feet rarely these days, I also buy a lot less fails. Oh and I got swept off my feet by my Dance Legend reddish neon and an awesome Dance Legend flakie that is just impossible to photograph - have a lovely day xxx

    1. Well, that's very true and I think the fact that it took me so long to get in on the indie craze saved me from a lot of that. You're speaking of It's Hot Here, right? That one is gorgeous and kind of reminds me of my Revlon China Flower but I know yours is brighter. I've always liked neon reds. As for the flakie, I do hope you try ♥♥♥

  4. Having gone wading in Llarowe's 4th of July sale, I'm on a serious no-buy, but I love Celestial and both of these are going on my list. The last polish that knocked me for a loop? Wing Dust Collections Steel Town Girl. Just amazing, and so different!
