Once upon a time, 90 percent of my polishes were OPI, and they fit in a small box. Then I learned of Julep, Zoya, and indies, and my small collection of OPIs kind of fell by the wayside. I started to feel like I ought to be showing my old guard some love, though, so I pulled out one I absolutely loved as a mani when I first bought it-- Royal Rajah Ruby.
It's funny, the things you realize about your older bottles when you've been away for a while. I was surprised at how big and moppy the brush was, for one thing. I ended up with way more paint on my nails than I knew what do do with, but they were covered in two good strokes.
The color is stunning. Its deep, dark, shimmery red is warm enough to make it decidedly unvampy, but it is very dressed up; almost too much so for work. It looks so fancy and out of place next to my work khakis and cable knit sweaters.
Can I, like, arrow toward the photoshopped ouchie, or is it apparent enough? lol. I got so tired of messing with it.
Anyway. One of the best things about this particular formula is that it has minimal tip shrinkage under Seche topcoat. I've had it on for a couple days now and it's reacted better under SV than any other formula I own. I just love the color, though, even if it is a little warm for my skin tone. I keep thinking how at home it would look next to some colorful bangles or some big, chunky gold jewelry.
I love this colour!
