Good morning! Today I've got on the dark horse of the Rescue Beauty Lounge Fan Collection, the notoriously difficult to photograph Cuprum. First, a little background. I totally knocked the RBL upcoming Georgia On My Mind collection in one of her blogger's posts, and kindly got my arse handed back to me, saying basically that I don't know what I'm talking about. I admitted this, and decided to look into this brand a little further. When the Fan collection came out, I, like many others, went a little crazy for the super saturated blue jelly on steroids that is IKB:2012, and I was a little disappointed when it sold out so quickly. But, it gave Cuprum time to really grow on me, and gave me a real appreciation for the brand itself and the concepts and work behind each individual collection and color. The concept behind Cuprum is particularly cool. (If you click on the link, scroll down to Compounds.)
Anyway, the whole problem with photographing this particular polish is that it's this amazing electric metallic blue with tiny, tiny copper flecks throughout, but it wants to look like a blue frost, and the wonderful copper flecks reflect light blue themselves or don't show up at all. Top bloggers know this and the rest of us accept this as one of those "you've got to see it to believe it" colors. So imagine my surprise when my camera actually picked up the copper.
The above photo is with flash; the copper is still very slightly visible, but this gives a good idea of just how vibrant this blue really is.
And, directly under a lamp. This one is the best illustration of how saturated with copper this color truly is.
Bottom line? I'm completely taken with this color. As my first RBL purchase, the formula is perfect and easy to manipulate, and the whole thing is worth every dollar I spent, even on shipping. Consider me a freshly minted ReBeL. ;)
Thank you for reading and have a lovely Friday!
I've never owned an RBL but methinks I need one -this one in particular - I LOVE blue with copper! Gorgeous polish and gorgeous swatches.
ReplyDeleteThank you!! :) It truly is a gorgeous color, and knowing what it means and all that went into it make it multifacetedly (is that a word?) Wonderful. The whole collection is so inspired that I wish I'd included Halcyon in my order.
DeleteWhat a fun color! I can imagine the flecks of copper are GORG in person.
ReplyDeleteOh, they are. They're really fascinating.
DeleteOh very cool! Do you order RBL online? Or can you find it in a store near you?
ReplyDeleteAs far as I know, they are distributed through Rescuebeauty.com exclusively.
DeleteOhh! this is so pretty, I don't own any RBLs but there are a few I want, and this is one of them! (no matter how many metalic blues I own!!)
ReplyDeleteThe copper makes it unique, and I agree... some colors you just can't have too many of. :)
DeleteOoooh this is beautiful! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's truly something else in real life. I love it!
DeleteThis was originally the one I was most looking forward to, then disappointed by, then surprised by of all the Fan Collection polishes. It's great that you managed to capture the copper flecks in your pictures-- they are readily apparent in the bottle but hard as heck to capture on film. I have this swatched-- need to crop some pictures and post about it!
ReplyDeleteCat, your swatches are great and I can't wait to see your post on this one. :)
DeleteI LOVE Rescue Beauty. I have several of their polishes. I was so sad when I initially missed IKB and Aqua Lily, but was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved Cuprum. I now have the whole Fan Collection, and Cuprum is my #2 favorite, after Aqua Lily, just because turquoises are my weakness. Cuprum is so freaking shiny and glossy. I love it. Did you end up pre-ordering any of the Georgia collection? Are you a RBL fan for life now? :)
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely a fan for life now :) There just seems to be such great energy behind Ji's polishes that other brands lack. I feel like it's as close to buying fine art as you can get in the polish world. I didn't pre-order any of the Georgia collection, but that doesn't mean one won't grab me later. Last fall's L'Oiseau de Feu polishes are amazing, too, but I missed out on Piu Mosso. Def paying attention to her BiBs, for IKB, as well.
DeleteLove this! I love blue polish. I don't have any RBL. Maybe one day :)
ReplyDeleteTami, if this one's any indication, they're worth every penny, for more than just the amazing colors. :)
DeleteThis is so beautiful! The blue is amazing and the copper flakes really put it over the top! Definitely on my wishlist! ;-)

You totally need this. Get it while you still can! ;)
DeleteThis is my fave brand of all time. I have a ton of Ji's polish! I bought all 4 of the fan collection and all 7 of her new collection. I feel her polish formula is absolute perfection. I'm glad you gave it a try.
ReplyDeleteMe, too! I look forward to adding more RBLs to my stash. :)
Deleteaaaah... this one is gorgeous and I keep eyeing it and eyeing it... I just can't shell out $20 for this!! Maybe one day she'll have a sale!! (fingers crossed)
ReplyDelete$20... plus the ridiculous shipping... the polish is amazing, though! An RBL sale would be freakin' awesome . I'll cross my fingers with you. :)
DeleteI saw this post via your LinkWithin... gosh, this color is just drool-worthy! Every time I see it, I'm just like WOW! It looks gorgeous on you, and great job on capturing the copper flakes. This has been on my wishlist for forever, but I just haven't been able to make myself pay the high price + shipping. Hmmm maybe one day. :)

I just did a repost of this and happened across your comment... so sorry I'm so late responding! I'd definitely have a few more RBLs in my stash if the price wasn't so high... hard to justify, I know, but the two I have have been more than worth it :)
