NARS Storm Bird

Good morning!!  I'm pretty stoked today because I got to quash my first fall lemming.
I went into Sephora-in-Penney yesterday for some blush, and came out with Nars's new polish for fall, the devastatingly gorgeous Storm Bird.  On a whim, I asked the gal at the counter if they carried Nars nail polish apart from the Orgasm line (which apparently is being heavily promoted this summer... guess which blush I was after?).  She said not usually, because her store is so small, but they might have the new grey one in, just not put out on display yet, and would I like her to check.  Um, yeah!  If they had it, I wasn't leaving without it!  My heart was actually racing a little with excitement when she brought it out.

Storm Bird is a dark grey creme with a perfect in two coats application and a ridiculously glossy finish (I always wear topcoat, as I am here, and the gloss factor is maybe slightly higher with topcoat).  The polish in the bottle has a swirly, nimbus clouds gathering look to it, which is very cool.  It also reminds me of the coziest grey chunky knit sweater, one you'd totally bundle up in with such a storm brewing overhead.  On the nail, it looks purple-grey, then blue-grey, then true grey, depending on the lighting.  It's an awesome color, one I'll be wearing a lot this fall.  The formula is lovely-- we're talking minimal cleanup on my dominant hand.  I had a few air bubbles, but that's probably more user error than anything.
Storm Bird retails for $18 and is available on the Nars website and at Sephora.

  2. Oh wow, a splurge! I would love a Nars polish some day:) This is so pretty. Grey has to be my favorite color to wear. So did you get your blush? Did you get Orgasm? I've heard good things about that blush:) I love how you named your Sephora-in-Penney :)

    1. I did get Orgasm and I'm going to attempt to do a post on it, lol. I can't take credit for Sephora-in-Penney; I've seen it called that on some perfume fora. And yes, I was totally not expecting to leave with a blush and a polish, but like I said, I wasn't leaving without it! It is a splurge, but it's worth it. Everything good I've heard about this brand is true, in regards to this polish, at least.

  3. I can see why you'd be so excited! This is gorgeous! I don't usually wear a lot of grey because I think it makes my skintone look washed out, but it looks super lovely on you! :D

    1. Thanks, Yun, I see myself wearing this a LOT this fall. It's my first grey creme-- I've got the grey OPI jelly, My Pointe Exactly, but that looks terrible on me. :p

  4. I need someone to swatch this next to Deborah Lippmann Stormy Weather! It looks great on you and if it's not a dupe, I'm so getting it!

    1. Polish Police has a post on it. She couldn't get her Stormy Weather open to swatch, but points out that they look significantly different in the bottle.

    1. We seem to be the last to get anything in my neck of the woods, so if my tiny Sephora has it, I think there's a good chance yours will, too. ;)

    1. Thanks, C, I like them both, too! :) The polish did not last through an apple picking/peeling/slicing session, fyi. ;)

  7. Very nice color and photos. I don't think I have 1 grayish polish in my stash, might have to change that!
