Zoya Frida + Zoya Midori

Good morning!!  Two things have been working against me so far this ayem.  First, the sun disappears as soon as I get my polishes and hand position all figured out, and second, I dumped coffee grounds all over the place and those are a little hard to remove from every little crevace...

Anyhoo, today's the mast day of Gosia's ABC challenge for me, and all Z stands for here is Zoya, lol.  I wasn't feeling the Gloss collection at all, but then I saw these great transitional looks using the summer and Gloss collections here on Zoya's blog page the other day.  How fun, thought I, and perfect because I'm just not ready to stash my brights away quite yet.  And, Zoya made at least one sale off that post, because I had to go get Frida, the dark teal jelly. ;)  Here's my take, using Midori, a gorgeous apple green metallic from their summer 2009 collection.  I used two coats of Midori and one coat of Frida on alternating fingers.

Midori's been one I've put off wearing because it was sort of not really what I was expecting, I guess, when I saw it in the bottle.  But it's gorgeous on-- a shimmering, elegant yellow green.  And Frida....  My whole issue with these new jellies is how sheer they are, even for that type of finish.  Three coats starts to try my patience a bit, and these look best with four.  But look how cool it looks as a layering tool!  I kind of want the other two Glosses, now. ;)

So there you have it!  I successfully completed the ABC challenge.  It encouraged me to step out of my lil box ad try new things, and as all challenges do, allowed me to make some more awesome new polish friends. <3  A BIG thank you to the lovely Gosia for creating this, and a special thank you to JinJit at Superficially Colorful for providing all the inlinkz. <3
Thanks for reading and following along. :)

  1. Exactly what happened to me. The sun would not shine yesterday afternoon and now this morning it wasn't out either. I'm going to have to try after work but it's not looking good right now:( These look really pretty - I just love green polish. Wait until you see my Z...LOL.

    1. Yeah, neither one of us are in good natural sunlight states, lol, at least not after summer ends. I think I might get an Ottlite this weekend. And now you totally have me intrigued about your Z.... Hurry up and shine already, MN sun!

Your new challenge sounds like fun and I'll possibly jump in in a couple weeks ;) I think I might slow down a bit for a while, though. And thanks for the compliment! My sisters got on my Facebook page and told me they liked the French better... Lol.

  10. I love how you used it as a layering tool. I agree, no matter how much I love the shine on a jelly, I just don't have the patience for 4-5 coats, so I like using them for toppers or sandwiches.
