Zoya Emme

Good morning!!  I've found myself in the mood for light pink the past few days.  I picked up Zoya Emme during one of last year's promos after seeing a swatch of it in a Woman's World or Redbook magazine floating around on the breakroom table.  At what age do you "graduate" to those mags, btw?  Glamour's starting to drive me a little nuts but Redbook seems targeted more to the next decade up, lol.  I've been really enjoying Allure, lately... speaking of which, it's been highly amusing watching them slo-o-owly ease themselves and their readers into the nail art trend over the past few months.  It's as if the editors have been fighting the art onslaught and can no longer deny it... but I digress.

Where was I?

Emme is an older Zoya, from their 2009 summer collection.

YES, IT IS A LIGHT PEARL!!! How could I not love this?!  The shade is perfection.  Yes, it is totally brushstroke-y but that's part of what makes a pearl finish a pearl finish, and I know how polarizing it is and you may or may not know that I love it.  The color is the most remarkable shade of carnation pink and it just wouldn't have the same lustre in any other finish.  The formula is a little thin, but still has that trademark Zoya applies-itself attribute.  I used two coats with topcoat.

Thanks for reading and enjoy the day!! ♥

  1. Very pretty and girly! I should start reading Allure. I never know which magazines I should buy. I am sure to get People Style Watch each month when I remember - I love that one! I also love reading the gossip mags but I usually only grab those in the airport when I am on a trip:)

    1. I've read Allure off and on since 1999, I think; my first issue was Angelina Jolie's first cover, lol. I like it because it doesn't get into many relevant social or political issues-- it's just serious talk about beauty, great photos and well written articles. You should check it out :)

  2. Oh, one more thing. I went out and bought that Grapefruit scrub. I used it last night and this morning:) What do you use for a night time moisturizer?

    1. Yes!! I love how much we enable each other :) What do you think so far? I'm currently alternating between Reviva Labs collagen night cream and hyaluronic acid gel, and Olay Beauty Fluid at night.

    2. I like it so far. I am hoping it evens out my skin tone a little bit :) I may take a look at some of those night creams.

    1. Awesome! :) I feel like this color is perfect for this finish, like it somehow doesn't look dated, at all. Thank you for the compliment on my nails, too :) I'm really loving them long, as well :)

  5. I enjoy reading Redbook and I'm only 24. Lol. Glamour is ok but I much prefer Marie Claire because they have better real life stories. Anyway Emme is super gorgeous! I had a polish similar to this one from Essie and it wasn't too good.

    1. I think you need Emme in your life :) I usd to read Marie Claire, and I think I preferred it to Glamour, but then they ran a story or something that wicked me off. I should give them another shot, though... Glamour's done plenty of the same and MC is the superior mag. ;)

  6. Pink pearlies were all I wore when I first started wearing nail polish. They are so cute and girly, and I still love them! :-)

  7. Hi Liesl, awesome post, beautiful hands, perfect polish!!! I have a soft spot for Zoya pearly finish polishes!!! They do some magic with them that makes them look totally unique but then pearly finish and creams were the only ones available when I started painting my nails and I remember a super sweet pink one I owned from Mary Quant. As for Mags I dropped them all, every newspaper has fashion or beauty or gossip section these days and my curiosity on any of these topics get well fed through all those channels. But I will get myself Allure (yes, there is a German issue) when I pass the newsstand next time but I am not hopeful, all the German issues of American or Brit magazines are their frumpy sisters, they are WAYYYY to serious :- S!!! Have a wonderful day xxx

    1. Thanks, sis :) What's the magic formula, lol? What makes Zoya's frosts look so timeless? I'll just keep on enjoying them :) And I never thought about it, but there wasn't much else for a while, was there? I have a small handful of "vintage" polishes and they're all frosts. I figured I just liked that finish, but apparently I didn't have many other options, lol.
Curious, why would German mags be frumpy, especially when some of the world's most beautiful models come from that region? It doesn't make sense. Anyhoo, wonderful day to you, too :) :)

  8. This is pretty! I love when a polish has a pearly brushstroke finish :). Unfortunately I already got some other polishes for the earth day promo but I'll definitely keep this one in mind for next time :)
