Julep Gayle

Good morning!!  I officially reinstated my Julep Maven membership, something I've been hemming and hawwing over basically since I quit over a year ago.  Lots has changed in the world o' Liesl's nails, and then this collection happened (which I've sadly missed out on), and I thought it'd be worth giving the subscription another go.  So as I wait for my new box to arrive, I thought I'd play with one of my older Juleps, an add-on to my Jan. 2012 box (I can't believe I remember that).
This is Julep Gayle, a deep, elegant aubergine creme.  You've maybe heard of Julep's one coat cremes; Gayle is one of them.  I could not help but notice the similarities between Gayle and a dark purple creme from OPI's Euro Centrale collection, and I thought that glorious gold shimmer topper, OY- Another Polish Joke, would likely look smashing over Gayle.

Gayle is very pigmented but pretty thin, and that, combined with Julep's longer than average brush makes for a difficult application.  It is a gorgeous color, though, dark, glossy, and elegant without really veering into vampy territory.  I just love Oy over this, too. This polish seriously looks amazing over anything.

Now is actually a great time to sign up with Julep if you haven't already.  As always, you can get your first box for $0.99 + shipping, but right now, you have the option of getting your intro box for $9.99 and two add-ons for free.  Include one of the $4.99 specials for free shipping and you essentially get five polishes for $14.98, which is highly awesome considering one Julep normally costs $14 on its own.  You can use my referral link here to sign up and give me credits to ensure the delivery of MOAR Julep posts directly to your inbox/dashboard/bloglovin'/whatever. ;)

Thank you for reading and have a lovely day! ♥♥

  6. I've never tried Julep. Been tempted a couple of times...but I let it wane. You're tempting me now with this beautiful Gayle. And can I just say that OY looks beautiful over everything!

  8. Glad you're a Maven again! If you don't like a month's, you can always skip so you don't miss the boxes you really like. :D And I like Oy over Gayle, though I suspect it's because Oy covers up most of Gayle. Did I mention I just can't bring myself to like eggplant purple colors? I think it's to do with my hatred of eggplants (the plant). *shudders thinking about it*

    1. Yes, you have mentioned it, in fact I considered posting a link to my original Gayle post (I think it was, like, my fourth) and then telling you specifically to not click through because I posed with an actual eggplant. But then I thought you might, anyway, out of morbid curiosity, so I decided against the whole thing, lol. Mighty kind of you to comment on this one, though ;) :)

    2. Haha curiosity would have gotten the best of me, for sure! Yes good thing you didn't. :D

  9. Gayle is so pretty! I have a few Juleps that I got from a mystery box last year. I do like the shape of their bottles.

    1. Aren't they fun? A little on the impractical side (I actually tipped my Gayle bottle over as I was painting, lol) but not bothersome. Plus, you can fit lots of them in a small space, lol.

  11. Wow...like I was just saying in a reply to your comment one of my posts, your manis are always sooo pristine! GAH. Can't even fathom how that's possible 100% of the time. Mmmm...this is SUCH a luscious deep purple color, and putting Oy as a couple of accents was the perfect touch! My roommate got me the Euro Centrale mini set for my b-day & I'm sooo glad to have them. :-)

    1. I LOVE the minis. I wasn't even interested in OY. I got the minis for the light purple and blue, and I ended up LOVING OY, so much so that I went and got myself a big bottle. It's absolutely gorgeous over every color in the mini set. And my manis are SO not perfect 100% of the time but I appreciate your comment so much ♥♥♥

  12. Hello Maven, beautiful mani!!! I've been reading also through the comments and of course got hooked on Yun's. I admittedly don't care much for the plant either, but on the nails? I just LOVE it ;-)!! Adding OY gives it a brocate feel that I find so captivating. I particularly love that you did two nails vs just one accent nail - enjoy your evening xxx

    1. Oh brocade! You seriously come up with the prettiest, most perfect descriptions. ♥ I don't mind my eggplant in certain dishes but it isn't my favorite and the seeds are weird. :p

  13. This polish looks great and I love the layering you did! Too bad about the application though. We don't have nail polish boxes in the Netherlands unfortunately. I'm jealous of you US girls!

    1. You don't? Saaaad face! There's a brand new indie-based box in Australia, here's hoping some of the EU companies do something similar for you :) And thank you :)
