Sally Hansen Nail Prisms Coral Amber

I have another old Sally Hansen Nail Prism to show you today.  This is Coral Amber.  SH rereleased a few of their Prisms with different formulae, tweaking the color or the level of frostiness, but this is one they appear to have changed entirely.  If you read Scrangie's review of it you see that it's one of their jelly-like duochromes, but my bottle (and a quick google search) shows something a little different....

Sally Hansen Nail Prisms Coral Amber

My Coral Amber is pretty clearly a holo, not a duochrome.  It's a very pretty one, though, a very pink leaning coral with a mild holo rainbow that flashes a lot of gold.  So I guess the name Coral Amber still fits....

Maybe I'm straining to see something that isn't really there, but doesn't it kind of look like there's a pink to golden coral flash in there?  Another funny thing about this is that the bottles in both mine and Scrangie's posts look the same.  SH decided to start painting their Prisms bottles for a while, and both of ours look to be painted with a golden coral shimmery spray, so it's next to impossible to see what exactly you're getting until you actually put it on your nails.  So maybe needless to say, I was a little surprised.

The nice thing about the Nail Prisms holos is how color saturated they are.  The holos aren't terribly strong but they're still apparent out of direct sunlight, and the shades are gorgeous, regardless.  They generally need only two coats and aren't affected by top or basecoat.
Nail Prisms are available at varying prices through ebay and amazon.  My number one Prisms lemming, Turquoise Opal, is currently available for the low, low price of $39.99.

Thanks for reading, and have a lovely start to your week ♥
Please notice that my name is spelled correctly in each of my watermarks. ;)

  1. These are so cool because at first sight, I would think you layered two polishes. It's like a two-in-one look. Great job on the spelling of your name ;)

    2. lucky you, as my bottle is one of the duochromes, and I'm not liking it much, it looks so different in the bottle. Trying to decide what undie to use under it to show it off. OR sell it. Your polish is so pretty !

    3. Ohh, I see, lol, I should've read this comment first ;) Try L'Oreal Pink Carat, maybe. It's a strawberry-salmon pink creme that looks like it'd match the pink flash in the Coral Amber duochrome. I wish I had that version, too, so I could be more of a help.

    1. Aw, thank you so much, Yun! ♥ I guess it's more salmon than coral? Either way, I can't think of a holo in the same shade.

Although the bottle is pretty deceiving! I would never have thought it would have come out like that! So cute and such a summer colour!

    1. It is such a perfect summer color :) It was kind of fun being surprised based on the bottle, but for sure it's preferable to have a clue what it is you're buying, lol. One peril of internet shopping for discontinued polish, I guess ;)

  14. Hi sis - oh my JUST BEAUTIFUL, I love the soft scattered holo a lot. I frankly started to gave them some preference for every day wear as the strong holos usually look flat and dull in my office lightning and I am afraid my boss would sort of wonder if I lost my marbles if he would see me standing by the window all day turning and twisting my hands ;-). And the color? Awesome!! Your photos? Gorgeous!! Your text? Witty and funny as always!!

    1. I totally agree on the scattered holos for every day use. They're just a little more elegant and a little less flashy, tooo, I think. Lolol at admiring your hands in the light from the window... I'm fairly certain my coworkers have noticed my "occasional" glance down at my nails as I'm typing, or how I "occasionally" carry a pill bottle as if I'm posing with a bottle of polish.... If you started window watching I know I'd be in good company, lolol ;)

  15. I'm guessing you used a deeper "undie" color under the coral amber.
what color was that? This polish is very sheer.
    Thanks

    1. Hey Jan! Actually, I don't :) No undies here, just two coats of the polish (I can't believe I forgot to note that!). The one in Scrangie's post is sheer like a lot of the Prism duochromes, but the holos, with the exception of Diamond, are actually quite saturated.

    2. well it is pretty on you !! I put 5 coats of the other formula on before I gave up on it. BUT I'm wearing it today over Zoya "sharon" it's OK......... :)

    3. Five coats is two more than I have patience for, lol. And I've found that with the lighter duochromes, more than three coats doesn't look ny different than only three. It all deppends on your tolerance of vnl, I think... Please be sure to let me know if you happen upon the perfect base :)
