Zoya Naturel Collection

*press sample

Hi everyone!!  It's a fun and exciting start to a new year when every new collection I've swatched has yielded at least one polish I'm certain will go on my best of lists come December.  Zoya's Naturel collection, a transitional set of cremes released at the very end of 2013, is many things-- a perfect palette cleanser after the drama of the holidays, a breath of new life into the rose-mauve family, and a perfect component in the current rose and orchid trends.  It's the prettiest set of neutrals since 2012's OPI NYC Ballet collection, full of six individually lovely shades and just as beautiful in its set cohesiveness.  These colors are pure eye candy.  Let's get started!

Chantal is a warm, pale, and creamy peach shade.  It's got a great formula for a pale creme-- three coats is perfect and non-patchy.  I used one layer of topcoat.

Taylor is a close sister to Chantal, but just a shade darker and cooler; it leans a pale cafe au lait rather than peach.  Taylor's got the same nice formula, even and streak free in three coats.  Shown with one layer of topcoat.  Both of these shades contain a touch of pink and are darker and easier to wear than last spring's vanilla custard shade, Jacqueline.

Rue knocked my socks off.  What a perfectly chic, soft, and sexy blushed rose this one is!  I didn't want to take Rue off, but alas, I had to swatch the second half of the collection at some point.  For all its paleness, Rue is perfect in two coats.  Shown with one layer of topcoat.  J'adore.

Then, just when I thought this collection could not possibly get any better, Brigitte comes along and even further wows me.  Brigitte is another effortlessly chic shade, a rosy mauve with the perfect balance of light and dark, elegant and utterly wearable.  I initially felt a special kinship with this one, as a fellow Sound of Music moniker, but it turns out the e is silent and the second oldest daughter in the movies ends her name with an a.  Even so, this might be the closest I'll ever get to a namesake polish, lol.  I'll take it.  Two coats plus one layer of topcoat.

Odette is another stunner-- a warm, ever so slightly dusky orchid.  I admit hat I wasn't excited about this one in the bottle, but I adore it on my nails.  Odette is the least neutral and most dramatic shade in this set.  Oddly, as the colors in this set darken, the formula worsens.  This doesn't mean Odette's formula is bad, but it is on the thin side, comparatively speaking.  I used three coats to eliminate streakiness and one layer of topcoat.

Normani is the darkest and least rosy of this set.  It's also the least original but its mauvey taupe is a perfect balance to the collection as a whole.  This, too, had a somewhat streaky formula and I used three coats plus one layer of topcoat.  Normani is very similar to Sinful Colors Graine de Poivre, if you love this but are looking for a less expensive alternate.

I'm so completely uncreative that I can't even come up with my own layering duos, lol.  I saw a pretty little skittles manicure on Jarynails' instagram and fell in love with how Zoya Maria Luisa, that gorgeous gold cellophane topper from this past fall's Satin collection, looked over Normani.  I had to recreate.

If youcan swing the whole collection and don't have any color copies, do it.  It's one of the easiest on the eyes and chicest collections to be introduced since I've been blogging.  My individual must-haves are Rue, Brigitte, and Odette.

The Naturel colors, and Maria Luisa, retail for $9 each.  This coming Tueday, January 7, Zoya's starting a new year's promo in which you get three polishes for the shipping and processing price of $12.  It's the perfect time to snag these beauties.

Where to find Zoya

As always, thank you so much for reading and have a beautiful day!! ♥♥

  2. I must have Rue, Brigitte, and Odette!! Your pics are fabulous. I can't imagine a lovelier set of hands to model this perfectly classy collection. <3 And Maria Luisa looks SO luxe over Normani! And I will bet that Zoya will have a Liesl polish one day soon...only they'll throw in a couple more L's and maybe a Q.

    1. Ha! Yes!! Excellent taste you have there, missy :) You say the nicest things to me!! ♥ Though I have no clue whatsoever the couple more L's and a Q reference. I thought a good night's sleep would help, but alas...

    3. Lololol, yes, of course! Heh. There's a running joke between a coworker and me that there's a silent P at the front of my name. So Zoya could call it "Pliesl" and it would be acceptable XD

  7. Hi Liesl, perfect post, picture AND collection! Given the usual formula issues with nude polishes, I think the real winners are the first three shades. Your pictures of Maria Luisa over Normani are knocking me out of my socks - a dramatized neutral! Have a great Start of the week xxx

    1. Thanks so much, Christine ♥♥ You've got a good point, there! It feels like the big companies are, for the most part, working to improve their light creme formulas and it's paying off! I think Maria Luisa looks awesome over most anything, lol-- it's my new OY, hahaha :) Happy Monday to you, as well!
