#radiantorchid Ulta Super Shiny Lip Butter Chicago

Hi all!!  It's a winter wonderland around these parts, like I know it is for a lot of you.  Once a year we get a fairly decent sized snow storm in here in OR and yesterday we got something like 6 inches... I wasn't one who brought out my ruler to measure it, nor did I pay attention to the folks on facebook who posted shots of their own rulers in the snow, and I don't really pay attention to the local news, lol, so really, I'm just speculating.
Anyhoo, a couple weekends ago, when it was merely cold without being precipitous, Candice of Mommy Does Her Nails and I got together for another one of our brunch/shopping dates.  I was on the lookout for a Pantone Color of the Year-named radiant orchid lip color and I nearly left Ulta empty handed, which was odd.  As we were in line to check out (she found some polishes to take home) my friend noticed a couple Ulta Super Shiny Lip Butters in one of those rounders they keep up front so you can find even MOAR goodies you can't live without as you wait to be rung up.  At the price ($8 regular but I got it on sale for $4), it was worth a small risk and the color in the tube, a warm, medium toned purpley mauvey pink, was decidedly more orchid than anything their prestige lines had to offer (also odd).  And you know what?  It totally works!  The beauty of this year's color is how inclusive it is-- it encapsulates orchid purple as well as bright and deep magentas, and I wanted something sort of true for my lips.  The color is Chicago and it's gorgeous and wearable.

I feel like lipcolors in this particular family can look a little concept-y (maybe that's just my red or nothing habit talking, though) and I wasn't expecting to totally love this product.  The great thing about lip butters is how pretty and wearable they are, providing a slightly sheer wash of color without looking waxy.  Chicago's a little on the mauve side of #radiantorchid in the tube but wears on me at a slightly more purple hue.  It's got amazing slip, at least as good as the Revlon lip butters, is true to its claim, nice and shiny, and is plenty moisturizing.  Like any slick lippy, (that felt funny to type) it requires quite a bit of reapplication throughout the day.  It has a tendency to bleed a bit, even with precise application, so take care to line with a clear pencil before applying this.
All in all, I really have nothing bad to say about this!  If you're looking for a subtle way to wear this year's big color on your lips, Chicago is a lovely and totally affordable way to do it.
Thank you for reading, have a lovely day, and stay warm!!  And safe.  I'll be driving to work slowly but carefully. ;)

    1. Thanks, Mo <3 Nope, no video yet, lol. I did do I trial run of an intro last Sunday. I'll persevere but writing's a heck of a lot easier than speaking. Even Paul knows this lol.

    1. Thanks Marho <3 I'm staying plenty warm, lol, but not looking forward to hanging out outside trying to replace my wiper blades, lol. The high price of procrastinating...

  6. I chime in with the girls - this looks just perfect on you! I love the softness and sheerness more than if it would come rock solid saturated! <3

    1. Thanks sis ♥ I agree, a more saturated, waxy finish would have been completely out of my comfort zone and definitely not as wearable.
