WetnWild Eggplant Frost

Hello, everyone!!  One of my first major polish lems was Sally Hansen Nail Prisms Burgundy Orchid {HERE} and {HERE}, lol.  It is gorgeous in every sense of the word but the top photo in {THIS POST} from Munia's Nails has haunted me these years because that dark blue to red to purple flash does not occur without flash photography.  It's a color I've not been sure I'd find because of current nail polish trends.  Enter WetnWild Eggplant Frost, a 99¢ dealie from the Wild Shine line, one that I've seen around but not paid much attention to until a fellow polish lover posted about it in one of my facebook groups (follow her, MyOrdinaillyLife, on instagram {HERE}).

WetnWild Eggplant Frost (Yun, if you're reading this, I'm sorry!! ♥)  isn't a frost.  It's also not a duo/multichrome in the sense of Burgundy Orchid.  It's more of a duochrome shimmer/flash, with a red violet jelly base that deepens beautifully and dramatically to a dark, almost electric, blue violet on the third coat.  The nature of jelly polish is to be super saturated in the middle of the nail but to sort of sheer out on the sides, and this creates the illusion of a blue- to red-violet shift.  There's an electric blue shimmer visible throughout.  This polish is GORGEOUS.  Because it's a jelly, dry time is a little slow.  Three coats, finished with one layer of topcoat.

My nails are having an identity crisis.  I felt 100% comfortable with my points but that shape is just not feasible with other goings on in my life.  I know a lot of folks aren't too keen on stilettos/almonds but I totally miss mine, lol.  Right meow I'm trying to round them out and I'm not sure I love it.  A definite upside is that I've been wearing this particular manicure for going on three days and it's just barely showing tipwear.  It's a testament to the awesomeness of this color that I'm still happily wearing it.

WetnWild Eggplant Frost.  99¢.  I get the impression this one flits in and out of limited edition land.  It's been in a LE fall display for the past few weeks but there are reviews on it dating back to 2010.  My advice?  If you're any sort of purple/shimmer/duochrome fan, go find this!  It truly transcends its miniscule price tag.

Thank you for reading and have a lovely day! ♥♥

    1. Yes!! It makes me want to explore the line a little further-- there are a couple blues and greens that look highly promising.
