Good evening, gals! It's the eve of another Wednesday in October and another perfectly good reason to play with some pretty pinks for a great cause. Andrea of Finger Painting Fingers has organized this simply lovely event of gals supporting gals (and guys) and raising breast cancer awareness through a common love of pretty nail polish. Follow the link-- it's not too late to join up!
Here's my offering this week. Those posts where gals talk about their failed manicure art always kill me because nothing ever looks anywhere close to a fail. Well, here's hoping you all will feel the same about this....
A couple weeks ago I saw this pretty pink and gold mani on Erika at Icy Nails, and I've been wanting to play around with sponging again, and the opportunity presented itself to try something similar. I used two coats of Zoya Emme, a really pretty, light and fluffy looking pink pearly color, and sponged L'Oreal Because You're Worth It, a dense and shimmery gold, on the tips and down almost to my cutes in a weak attempt at a gradient of some sort.
I kept catching glimpses of this as the light hit it, and it looked like it might have been lit within for a minute, but that went away and it just sort of looked dingy. Long story short, these are two pretty colors that don't play well together, like, at all.
And now...
And now...
I am craving pink on my nails now after seeing these, I love a metallic gradient and this is no exception. Like you said, nowhere near fail!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Iggy :) We are our own worst critics, like they always say. ;)
DeleteI really like Emme. I've been wanting it for a while. I really like this mani. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sara! Emme is such a soft, pretty color, it feels so springlike to me. I can't wait to wear it in its "appropriate" season. ;)
DeleteThe combination of pink and gold is really pretty! I don't wear pinks often, but I will have to keep in mind to wear something similar to this in the future!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jennifer :) If you like pearly finishes (which I do) this one's a must have. <3
DeleteYou made me want to wear the same manicure I love the combination
ReplyDeleteSeriously?? Awesome! Thanks, Karine :)
DeleteVerry pretty!
ReplyDeleteThanks! :)
DeletePretty!
ReplyDeleteThank you! :)
DeleteIt looks great in the light. Like antique nails. I want to try sponge painting on my nails...bad. Maybe I'll find some time this weekend.
ReplyDeleteYes, definitely prettier in the light... I wanted a picture with minimal glare, though, lol. You should do some sponging! It's so easy and time effective. And, I can promise you your results will be prettier than mine. lol. ;)
DeleteThis is beautiful!! I love the gold and pink together. I agree with Essie Rae, it definitely has an antique feel to it!
ReplyDeleteCool! I can see that, since the gold is a little on the flat side. I almost went with a sheerer, sparklier gold, which might have made a difference.
DeleteI always think gold makes for a chic manicure. Gold and pink is feminine and bold. I think that fits for Go Pink Wed perfectly.
ReplyDeleteThanks, C <3
DeleteEmme looks so pretty on you! I have had Emme for like a year now and I still haven't worn it. I have to get to it soon! :-)
ReplyDelete~ Yun
Well, if I didn't already have it, I'm sure your swatches would have pushed me over the edge, lol <3
DeleteI think it looks very pretty. I´ve never tried to do a gradient because I think I will manage to make it look uggly, since I´m always doing my nails in a hurry. Was it difficult to do?
ReplyDelete...and I love that gold polish!
Oh, bless your heart :) It wasn't hard, at all. I let two coats of my base color dry completely, then put a drop of the gold on the tip of a makeup sponge, sponged across the tips, and then down the rest of each nail. I'm typing from my phone right now, so I can't get you the link, but if you look in my labels on the right, under Revlon, there's another sponging mani I did with a link to the tutorial I used.
DeleteI popped in to say how pretty the 2 colors go together, and read that you didn't like it. What a shame, I totally understand. I'm overly critical of my own stuff too! <3
ReplyDeleteAw. And that is why you should never be negative about your own stuff, lol. I think I had a certain look in mind, and when it didn't look like how I imagined it, I saw it in a bad light. :p Anyhoo, thanks for stopping by <3
DeleteIt's so funny that you used "fluffy" to describe that lovely pink, cause that's exactly what I thought when I saw it!! It reminds me of one of those fancy robes with the feather collar! Ha! Love the gradient you did. I think I'm Worth It too! :)
ReplyDeleteP.S. I like the look. I don't think it looks dirty at all!
DeleteThanks, Andrea <3 It isn't one of my favorite manis, by a long shot, but it makes my heart a little warm that you all like it. And ohhhh my goodness, I want a fancy pink feathered bathrobe now! XD
DeleteI really like this gradient!! And the name is so appropriate for the women with this disease!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Gosia :) It is a highly appropriate name, isn't it? :)
