Happy Independence Day!!

I was feeling a high level of love for my Poole manicure from yesterday and it's really hard to take off a mani that still looks pristine, but holo love and the spirit of the holiday took over.  So, my nailses are now decked out in red, silver/white, and blue.

That's Jade Psicodelica on index and middle (full post is imminent, lol), Sally Hansen Nail Prisms Golden Tourmaline on ring, and Polished Components Sapphire Blue on pinky.

Polished Components Azalea + Nail Mail

Good morning :)  I was down for the count at exactly 7:30 Friday night and haven't really done much but sleep, drink water, and play Monopoly on the playstation with C in a cold-induced fog.  Monopoly generally makes me really mad, but somehow I can play it as a video game to better results.  C is really good at it and I'm not, but we have a common ground fighting against the ai players.  I even won a game (which C may or may not have helped with that... cold-induced fog... not really sure).

I've tried to get caught up on my commenting during the last three days, which may or may not have been a good idea.  If I left a vague, typo-filled, semi-nonsensical comment on your blog, I should probably apologize....

The good news is that today I feel well enough to paint my nails again (even if it's just my left hand).  And, I got some exciting nail mail over the weekend.  So please pardon the half-baked cuticle care of the past three days and try to enjoy the show. ;)

 This is Polished Components Azalea, a gorgeous, delicate pinky mauve that could almost be considered a scattered holo, were the holo bits a little denser.  As it is, they're beautifully sparse and perfect for what I think this polish is trying to convey.  Azalea is semi-sheer.  I used three coats and it nearly got rid of visible nail line but I don't generally have a problem with that, especially when the color is this pretty and looks like a spring petal glistening with dew.  I love this color.

Azalea was part of Polished Components' Spring 2012 collection and the indie maker's since found her niche, which includes some slightly risque-named polishes.  Azalea isn't currently available but you do have the option to request a custom item from Polished Components' etsy shop.  Check it out here.

I ordered a few more SH Nail Prisms off amazon sometime last week and those showed up on Friday.

Crystal, Jem, and Suvi.  The Zoya faeries called in extra staff to help out in their warehouse and appease those of us who didn't read the part about promo orders taking up to four weeks to ship in their terms & conditions.  Zoya really is an awesome company with great service and they spoil us nailistas tremendously.  If you think about it, take a second to thank them for their hard work on their facebook page.

Polished Components Sapphire Blue

Good morning!!  I'm honestly not sure how I feel about the whole indie craze right now, but there is one gal I've bought from a couple times, Ashley of Polished Components.  She's in my state and right up the freeway from me, so I've gotten to feel awesome about supporting a local small business when I've bought from her.  I like her line because she has a decent collection of stand alone colors, in addition to glitters and special effects topcoats.  Sapphire Blue is a stand alone, and is extra special because it was also my first holo.  I was just beginning to learn about holos, and I can't even tell you how stoked I was to have one in my hot little hands. lol.  Here is is, in two coats.

Sapphire Blue is a faint linear holo, and when it comes to it, I usually say the bigger, the better, but I love the subtlety of this one.  The dark cornflower blue base is so gorgeous, and I like how the holo particles accentuate it rather than take over.  The brush is small, and the consistency pretty much perfect.

Polished Components Azalea

Just as I knew it would, my manicure from yesterday looked pretty terrible by the end of my work day.  I thought about going bare today, letting my nails breathe a bit, but I just couldn't leave well enough alone.  This is Polished Components Azalea.

I love dark, rose-toned pinks, and this one is slightly sheer (I used three coats), shimmery, and gorgeous.

The little snowstorm from yesterday didn't turn out to be so little.  The snow kept falling for something close to 24 hours.  It didn't actually stop until sometime very early this morning, and there's a few inches on the ground right now (it didn't start to stick until dusk yesterday.)  The sun is shining now, too, and it is absolutely beautiful outside.  I took a ton of pictures, just loving being out in my backyard in my galoshes and bathrobe.

Pretty sheer (and pretty snow.)  The thing I love about Polished Components is that very quality, though.  The colors are beautiful, fun, and elegant, never loud or over-the-top.  

Blurry pictures are a little silly, but seriously, sparkles in the sunlight!  How could I resist posting that? 

This one's in a little bit of shade.  On top of their amazing colors, Polished Components has a consistently good, easy to work with formula. 

And one indoor shot.  Boring! lol.  I'm ready to go back outside.  Think the snow will last until my three day weekend?  It's only got to stick around ten more hours. ;)

Polished Components Honeysuckle

Since really indulging my nail polish fancies, some of the most fun personal discoveries I've made have been indie polish lines.  My favorite so far is Polished Components, right up the freeway from where I live.  Ashley, the line's creator, recently developed a spring line named Flowers and Plants, this strange, unique, and lovely color spoke to me immediately.

The color is called Honeysuckle.  It's a shimmery golden brown with an incredible multidimensional green and yellow sheen.  I'm not going to say it's reminiscent of its namesake flower, but it perfectly captures the lovely, deep color and iridescence of real honey.

Here are some indoor shots.  I used three coats, and it's still a little sheer (which doesn't bother me, but how completely gorgeous would this color be super saturated?).  This is the second Polished Components polish I've tried, and the formula is honestly one of the best I've ever used.  The consistency is so easy to work with; not too thick, not too thin, and no pooling.  And I absolutely love the color.
