Enchanted Polish December 2014

  Enchanted Polish is one of those brands shrouded in a certain exclusivity.  They're hard to come by organically and generally resell for exorbitant amounts on ebay and I've just never been interested.  A few Sundays ago, though, I happened to be online in the right place at the right time and, having an "Ahh, what the hekk" moment, decided to preorder the December 2014 mystery polish.

  I pay enough attention to know that Enchanted Polish has, for the last year or two, been releasing secret monthly exclusive polishes, color and finish unknown until the purchaser opens the solid black box, or until someone starts posting spoilers.  As of last night, a google search yielded nothing on this month's offering, so I thought it best to lead off with an alert (because I simply could not wait to get it on my nails and show it off... it's that pretty). **edited-- alert removed (in case you couldn't tell)**

L'Oreal Sparkling Soirée Holiday 2014-- Almost Midnight

  As much as I love to wear purple clothes, sweaters, coats, shoes, bathrobe, lol, purple nail polishes have never been my forte.  Maybe it's because of the superfluity of the color in my wardrobe-- I'd rather something more complementary and less matchy-matchy.  Maybe it's those elegant bottles and brushed gold caps, or maybe it's the fact that this purple leans warm and dusky and not cool and royal.  L'Oreal Almost Midnight, from the holiday 2014 Sparkling Soirée collection, spoke volumes to me.

  L'Oreal polishes are always kind of a treat for me.  I love the elegance of the rectangular bottle and the brushed gold cap, the small, flat, tapered brush is a perfect fit for my nails, and the formulas are consistently nice, regardless of finish.  For $5.99 a bottle, it's a treat that's totally affordable, too.

   L'Oreal's holiday 2014 collection is made up of eight different polishes, including four glitter toppers and four corresponding solid colors, including the rich and lovely Bring The Rubies.  This color isn't unique.  As prolific as metallic reds are, and as much as I adore the shade in the first place, though, I've never actually managed to land one in my stash until now.

  I've had some trouble trying to figure out exactly what vibe the Zoya faeries were going for when they created this year's winter collection, titled Wishes.  It's equal parts rich, dark, and cold, anchored by another trio of Pixiedusts and supplemented by a complementing creme, frost, and microshimmer.    

Essie Winter 2014-- Jiggle Hi, Jiggle Low

  Morning, all!!  Remember that blogger from a couple years back who had a compilation of the worst polish names?  Anyway, Jiggle Hi, Jiggle Low is my second top choice from Essie's Winter 2014 collection, and the anchor/namesake of the collection.  One of the articles I read on the subject (and I can't for the life of me remember who wrote it) stated that wearing metallics is a thing again and I was quite clueless... I get exhausted just thinking about following trends.  Anyway (again), if Jiggle Hi, Jiggle Low means metallics are in again, then it's a perfect and gorgeous way to start wearing the trend (if you're into that kind of thing... and even if you're not).  Ironically, it's also one of the more festive and holiday traditional polishes of the collection.

  I've been a fan of gold nails as soon as I discovered that gold polish exists.  Jiggle Hi, Jiggle Low is a champagne gold, more of a foil than a metallic, possessing all of the gleam and none of the streakiness that tend to plague true metallics.  It's basically a white gold base supersaturated with microshimmer and very finely milled buttery yellow gold flecks for added dimension.  It's one of those colors that look like precious, molten metal going on and dries to a bright, dazzling, liquid like finish.

Essie Winter 2014-- Back In the Limo

  Good morning, guys and gals!!  Does Essie always put their winter collection out this early, or am I just noticing it this year?  At any rate, it's here, six shades of classic Essie, but with an atypical twist-- it's a lot of pink, a lot of coral, and, with the exception of a blue-red that may or may not be identical to Fall 2014's Dress To Kilt {HERE}, and a lovely champagne foil (imminent), a lot of sheer.

  Something about Essie's winter collections call to my mind elegant, expensive holiday parties and this year's is warm, festive, and pristine, thrown in some big, white, chandeliered room.  Like many Essies, the names in this set are cheeky and pretentious and I usually hold that against a polish, but these colors spoke to me and despite the flak that this collection has gotten/will likely continue to get, I think it's pretty brilliant.

  My first choice is Back In the Limo, a blushed peach/soft shell pink jelly.
