LLPT's Best Nails of 2014
LLPT's Best Nails of 2014

Ahhhh!!  I finally feel like I'm emerging from the tornado of activity and subsequent mini hibernation that has composed the last five days.  C and I are fortunate to have the next few days off so we slept in until 11ish yesterday and 10ish today (and I'm sure a nap is in order, again).  Hosting Christmas dinner is a LOT of work, especially when both of us have full time jobs and especially when I'm stubborn and insist on doing it all myself... Thankful for a mom who understands the work and brought over one of my favorite desserts and appetizers to supplement (as well as a Christmas chicken... thanks, Dad).  Anyhoo, time marches on, New Year's is imminent, and my nails are roached.  Sounds like a perfect opportunity to list my favorite nail polishes of 2014, no?

Cult Nails Falling Hard + Feedback

Hi friends!!  A discussion on favorite polish combos on facebook the other day prompted me to bring out my favorite flakie topper and one of the pinks I've been obsessing over lately and put them together.  This is Cult Nails Feedback, an iridescent pink and gold mylar flakie, over Falling Hard, a sweet, bright, super saturated orchid pink creme.

June Favorites!!

*contains press sample(s)

Hi everyone!!  I just started an instagram challenge for the month of July, and the first task was to post our June favorites, and I decided to do a full blog spot on them, since I haven't done that for a while (welcome to my stream of consciousness).

I've really been having fun playing around with accessories and I found myself drawn to chunky necklaces and menswear inspired watches.

Cult Nails Flushed/Max Factor Fantasy Fire Comparison

Hi everyone!!  I had a request (sort of; it was more like bouncing ideas off and getting a positive response) to do a comparison between two purple polishes with pink shimmer and lots of depth-- Max Factor Fantasy Fire and Cult Nails Flushed.

The differences are obvious as soon as you start working with them.  Index and ring-- Cult Nails Flushed; middle and pinky-- Max Factor Fantasy Fire.
Flushed is a cream based dusky purple with a subtle, slightly duochrome pink to gold shimmer, thin, but opaque in two coats.
Fantasy Fire is a bright violet jelly with a very flashy multichrome pink to gold to green shimmer and looks optimal by itself in four coats.

Cult Nails Falling Hard

Good morning, guys and gals!!  I feel like this year has been remarkable for pink polishes, and I've found myself drawn to them on many, many occasions.  It's not that it's ever been a color I disliked, but I just can't get enough of them this spring!  Anyway, reason #2 that I HAD to have the new Cult Nails It's a New Day set is this completely gorgeous orchid-pink creme, Falling Hard.  As with every Cult Nails polish I've worn thus far, the formula is flawless, and this one's perfectly glossy in two coats.  For the sake of longevity, I used one layer of topcoat.

Cult Nails Evolution

Hi everyone!!  Count me 100% IN on this gorgeous peach polish trend that seems to be happening this spring.  The fact that this season's shades are warm and slightly pink leaning is a big plus and I'm excited that I can actually wear these shades.  Anyway, that's part of what drew me to Cult Nails' new It's A New Day set-- the light and elegant peachy pink creme known as Evolution.

This Week's Haul and Happy Caturday Poll!

Hey everyone!!  I know I usually post early, but his morning was busier than usual, on account of getting to watch one of my nieces play little league softball.  The game was super fun-- she connected with the ball for the first time and hit a homer, no less.  Way to make your first matter, right?  C and I are so proud of her.  We all went out for ice cream afterwards (or, rather, they went out for ice cream and I had a salad, HOORAY FOR GOOD CHOICES!!) and after some errand running, we made it home 4ish and promptly took a nap.  I wasn't going to post at all, but I found my mind reeling with fun questions to ask, plus I got some good mail this week, so here we are!

Cult Nails Flushed

Hi all!!  Just a quick post today as I'm feeling a little under the weather (but not to the point where I couldn't take pictures of my nails, naturally).  Before I actually pulled the trigger on my first Cult Nails purchase, I was highly besotted with Flushed, from 2012's Behind Closed Doors collection.  I'm now the super happy owner of one and I LOVE IT.

Flushed is a dusty violet purple with a deep, beautiful pink shimmer that gives the polish a more straightforward Fantasy Fire look but without the multichrome shift.  Flushed is opaque in two coats rather than the multiple it takes for FF, and it's still got the most amazing glow.  Formula is great, very easy to apply with minimal cleanup.  I finished with one layer of topcoat.

Cult Nails Feedback + LVX Dahlia

*LVX press sample

Hi everyone!!  Happy Saint Patrick's Day!  I honestly forgot all about it as I was doing my nails last night, so here is my decidedly un-St. Paddy's Day-like manicure.  I will be wearing green elsewhere.

I'm pretty much in absolute love with Cult Nails Feedback and I really want to wear it over every creme and jelly I own.  Part of Cult Nails' fall 2013 All Access collection, Feedback is a highly irregular pink and gold mylar flakie suspended in a clear base.  One of my favorite duos from that collection is Feedback over the burgundy jelly Lamestain.  I don't have Lamestain, so I grabbed one of my own favorite vampy jellies, LVX Dahlia.  Observe.

Cult Nails Kiss

Hi everyone!!  I've oohed and ahhed over Cult Nails polishes on Essie's and Christine's blogs, and just never pulled the trigger because sometimes you know that the last thing you need is to be hooked on another line of polish, lol.  Well, Christine's posts on the Passionate Dreams collection pushed me over the edge.  Kiss, a vampy shade of blue based red that dries to an envelope-pushing wax finish, had to be mine.

Happy Caturday Poll and February Favorites

Happy Caturday, all!!  I don't really tend to purchase a ton of makeup during any given month, and my polish buying has really tapered off, too, but I kind of went a little crazy during February (for me, anyway, lol).  So, I thought I'd tell you what I've really been enjoying this month (reviews imminent!).
