Hi guys and gals! There's another Australian indie company that's recently shown up on my radar, a relative newcomer who's making quite the splash. The name is Celestial Cosmetics, and this first polish gets its own post because it's kind of special... it's a glow in the dark color.
My! is one of three special effects polishes done in collaboration with an Australian blogger and instagrammer Oh My Gosh! Polish. My! requires a bit of special treatment. First, the glow in the dark material sinks easily and rapidly. I placed my bottle upside down for several minutes and gave it several good shakes as the pigment moved to best incorporate it.
The base is a thin, sheer pink jelly and will show up as such on a bare nail and not give off much of a glow. My! needs to act as a topcoat over a white creme.
I used two coats of My! over two coats Milani White on the Spot... any old white creme will do. My! itself has a very nice formula-- great consistency and easy application. I didn't apply topcoat initially. Without it, this does take some extra time to dry, but it isn't terrible. It kind of looks cool in the light, too, a satiny, whitewashed sheer carnation pink. The glow in the dark pigment adds a very softly grainy appearance. Here is is in the daaaark!
I seriously had more fun wearing this polish. I waited a few before turning the light on in the bathroom. I walked out to the darkened kitchen for no apparent reason other than to stare at my glowy nails. At bedtime I stuck my head under my sheets and wiggled my fingers around for a bit.
I decided to see if topcoat did anything to dull the glow and it certainly does in pictures but not in real life. If you're curious, there's a shot of my nails both ways on my instagram.
Celestial Cosmetics My! will be available internationally at color4nails.com within 1-2 weeks, just in time to start thinking about harvest and Halloween parties.

Thank you for reading and have a lovely day!! ♥

DeleteHi Liesl, great review!!! LOL - you diving under the bedsheet to ogle your nails - hilarious!!! Wonder what your furries would consider them!! I know for sure that Nell is attracted by glitter polish - he observes then any movement of my hands!!! Have a great day xxx
ReplyDeleteI dunno-- they don't pay my nails much mind, though Sally loves to sit awkwardly on my leg while I'm painting. She used to be so interested when I'd paint my toes, too. Awww, Nell likes glitter! Good boy ♥♥
Delete"At bedtime I stuck my head under my sheets and wiggled my fingers around for a bit." Made my day. Thank you. And great faux-gradient pics. :)
