Zoya Tickled Collection-- Summer 2014

Zoya Tickled Collection Summer 2014 swatches and review

Hi friends!!  Today I get to show you the second half of Zoya's Summer 2014 collection-- the cremes, under the title Tickled.  I love cremes and I love the fact that I can count on Zoya to deliver a great set of them twice a year.  That said, Tickled is one of the classiest collections I've seen, and for summer, no less.  I used two coats of polish, unless otherwise stated, and one coat of GlitterDaze Super Smooth Keratin Topcoat.
Kitridge is a light, bright bubblegum pink, so close to neon that it dries a little on the satiny side.  It's a light polish, so patchiness occurs.  I used three coats and it was fine.  Note that the label and the website differ in name spelling-- the label contains an extra "r".

Wendy is a salmon creme, a softer, muted take on the classic bright coral, with a perfect formula.  I feel like Zoya's been stepping up their cremes lately-- what seemed to be a weak spot is as consistently nice as any of their other finishes.

Rocha is a bright poppy red shade with a surprising and very subtle shimmer.  I suspect it's got more to do with helping the formula out than actually being ornamental because it only seems to be perceptible while the polish is wet.  It's a little thick, but totally manageable.

Tilda is the most noteworthy color in this set, a medium sour apple green that keeps this collection from becoming too "safe".  This is one your skin tone will make or break and your taste for jolie laide colors will dictate whether or not you need it.  Tilda's a tad thick but actually has the best formula of these six, which is saying a lot because as I've stated, they're all pretty great.

Ling is an elusive blue falling somewhere between royal and cyan, with the slightest hint of dustiness.  It's a little bit country in feel and while medium-dark blues are no stranger to any collection or season lately, this one feels particularly fresh.  It's nearly a one-coater, as deeper blues often are, and I'm pleased to report that I had no staining with this one.

Rooney is a lively damask rose creme, akin to Wendy in that it's a touch more proper and muted than classic summer fuschia.  Again, this boasts an amazing formula.

The Tickled palette as a whole reminds me of a painting, very country garden tea party.  The colors are soft, wearable, and both new and old classic.  I don't know if this suggests a trend towards a more subdued nail look in general, but I do know that I love this collection, with the personal exception of Tilda (and the appreciation that it does nicely round out the set).  A few people are saying boring, but I say it's fabulous and, with or without the corresponding glassflecks of the Bubbly collection, the prettiest summer offering in recent years.

The Tickled collection is available on Zoya.com for $9 each or $54 for the set of six.

  1. I don't care if Kitridge has 4 R's in the name...I ADORE it. Ling and Rooney are next in line as faves. You are so right about the collection looking like a painting. Something about the gardenish feel made me think of Renoir's Luncheon of the Boating Party, even though there's no pink in that painting, LOL. :P Beautiful post, as always...my swatches want to be your swatches when they grow up.

    1. Like I already said...sweetest comment ever :) :) I cannot think of a painting this palette actually resembles but I'm sure it's out there, lol. And I'm with Dani, excited about this new fascination with pink! I expected you to kind of dig Tilda, though. The other two are far too indecisive about themselves to be of any use to you, lol <3

    1. I totally agree! They're very late spring into a mild summer, and I love it :) They don't all need to be neon and tropical, you know?

    1. Right?! I was certain she'd be all over Tilda. I have the toughest time nailing down her style for some reason. Anyhoo, thank you so much ♥ Tickled and Bubbly have been the easiest collections I've ever photoed or written about-- they're just that beautiful and inspiring, you know? Headed over to check out your Tickled review right meow!!!

    1. Aw, thank you, Cait! It's funny how once you start writing you suddenly "get" it, lol. Rocha is gorgeous. I almost called it my favorite, but then Rooney... and Wendy... lol. You know.

  5. Hi Liesl, I am sure you are not surprised that the two Zoyas are actually the first two collections released by the biggies I really like this year. I love each and every shade, your swatches and review are perfect and I declare defeat in picking a favorite - I would take 'em all and yes, Zoya even beats BL with this collection in my eyes <3

    1. It's the whole palette, isn't it? I feel like they're all different enough, but then put them all together and it's a whole new level of gorgeous. Seriously, Amber, get them all and go create some beautiful art <3 :)

    1. You and your ChGs :) You know, this collection looks a bit like something out of the ChG play book. And I do think Tilda could be really cool with the right stamping... ;)

    1. I miss you, too! Every time a new Zoya set comes along I think of how you used to showcase your favorite first thing and how you'd put your own twist on it. You have such a great, unique style! You should definitely treat yourself to a few of these-- I think Kitridge, Ling, and Tilda are so you :)
