Julep Natalie

Morning, guys and gals!  Happy Sunday!  I've had a super fun and busy weekend and it's only been a couple days, but I feel like I've been away from la blog forevah, lol.  I've got lots of commenting to catch up on  and I promise I'll get to it :)
C and I got together with some excellent friends for one of the local county fairs (if you follow on instagram, you might have seen the snapshot of us waiting for the evening concert... also viewable to your slightly lower right) and then visited a nearby town for a citywide garage sale thingie.  I'm not a garage saler at all, but I do like to be on the lookout for well preserved vintage perfumes.  I didn't find any of those, but I did find an OPI black label in excellent shape... post imminent....  Today, I'm wearing Julep Natalie, something gorgeous that came in my introductory Maven box.

Natalie is a bright, salmon leaning pink creme just this side of neon with a warm and retro vibe to it.  The color is amazing but the formula a little on the ridiculous side.  It's super streaky but three thick coats will even it out, and thick is easy to to because that's how this polish leans, and by easy I do not mean easy to maneuver or easy to align with cuticle lines.  The wide and flat brush made it very hard for me to precisely paint my smallest nails, my index and pinkies, without completely flooding my cutes and I ended up having to do quite a bit of cleanup on this mani, anyway.  Juleps are some of the trickiest polishes to apply, as a rule, because of their bottle and brush design and their formulas, but they come out with some of the loveliest cremes ever... such a catch-22, lol.  I have a love-hate relationship with this brand.

If you're interested in giving Julep a shot, you can sign up to me a Maven through my referral link and enter the code FREEBOX at checkout.  It's a great way to try their monthly subscription service at minimal cost and make your own judgments.  Skipping a month is super easy but if you decide not to, shipping for Mavens is always free and each polish comes at a discount.  Otherwise, Natalie is available on Julep's website for $14.

Thanks for reading and enjoy the rest of your weekend! ☼

    1. Thanks, Mel :) Cremes are definitely in my top 3 favorite finishes. They might be #1 because of their class and versatility but then I look at my holos....

    1. You're so sweet! :) And yes, I was pretty stoked about my OPI :) It's not a highly sought after one, I don't think, but for 25 cents I couldn't pass it up.

    1. Thanks, friend :) It's an awesome color, I just need to practice my application a little more ;) I'm pretty excited about my little find. The gal selling it had three bottles of an old, frosty gold L'Oreal Jet Set polish, obvi backups, which of course made me smile, and a Cover Girl Nail Slicks in the flat square bottle. Those were fun to see.

  8. Lovely colour on you! I don't mind Julep polishes, but the shipping to Canada is horrid and the customer service is interesting;) Just not worth it for me.

    1. I've heard the service is spotty. That's one thing I've never had issues with; they've always been great to me. But I sure understand, once you've had a bad experience it's really hard to want to give a company your business. Bummer about the shipping rates, too.

  9. Beautiful color! Great swatches - sorry you had trouble with the formula. They are definitely hit and miss for me.

    1. Thanks friend ♥ I think a lot of it has to do with their bottle and brush design, and it's too bad, because I think the bottles are so cute! They're just not conducive to easy application, like, at ALL.

    2. I totally agree. It's really hard to control the brush. And yes, the bottle is very tippy...I have dropped one before :(

    3. Ugh, me, too! All over our hardwoods. :( Fortunately, it was in a spot not too terribly visible, but still....

  10. Hi Liesl - I saw your photo on IG - lovely :-)!!! Your nails look flawless and Natalie is such a pretty and happy summer shade!!! What a pity regarding the application and the bottle - and the brush but you definitively mastered the challenge skillfully <3
