Celestial Cosmetics Iron Born

*press sample
Hi all!  I've got a hankering for a certain pair of red faux-suede platform booties spotted on the fabulous Maria of Cult Nails fame on instagram and am trying to hatch a plan to acquire them in time for our belated Oktoberfest party tonight without giving C the chance to say no... Mom, if you read this today and you see them on me tonight, you'll know I was successful, lool.

I've got on my nails today another thermal holo beauty from the Color4Nails/celestial Cosmetics collab collection, The Seven Kingdoms.  This polish is called Iron Born and it is the most unique holo color I've seen in a while.  In the bottle, it's cold, slightly purple leaning steel grey with a medium strength holo.  Looking at it in the bottle is interesting, though, because it almost gives the appearance of a complete absence of color.  Your eyes focus on the rainbow and while it does not give off a searing linear effect, it somehow makes the color of the polish almost... nondescript.  It's so weird.  And, totally cool.  On the nail it warms to a surprising and elegant silvery lavender-taupe.

Iron Born heats up very quickly and gives off a less natural gradient and more precise french tip-like
appearance, another plus for the time and artistically challenged among us.   This one has a slightly flat, metallic finish.  Topcoat adds shine and does not diminish the rainbow.  The formula is elementary, as I'm learning to expect from Celestial Cosmetics.  I used two coats of polish.

Because Iron Born adapts to body and environmental heat so quickly, it was hard for me to capture the polish in a completely cold state, but I tried to act fast, lol.

Sorry for the less than awesome photo/pose, haha, but I basically stuck my hand under cold water, dried it off as quickly as possible, and snapped a shot before the polish could morph.  So this isn't really even an accurate representation of what this is going to look like on, but I wanted to throw it in here, anyway.  Results are going to be more akin to this--

I'll wrap this up by saying that as gimicky as I initially felt like thermal polishes are, I'm really enjoying both the thermal holos from Celestial.  They're so soft and elegant and just plain pretty.

Iron Born and the rest of the Celestial Cosmetics The Seven Kingdoms collection will be available for sale internationally at color4nails.com.

Thank you for reading, wish me luck on the booties, lolol, and have a beautiful day!! ♥

    2. Hehehe! I just referred to Melissa's nails as "talons" - in the best possible way, of course! I love your long nails!! They definitely showcase the thermo effect perfectly. And I'm fairly sure this is the prettiest holo I've ever seen. I'm a huge fan of greige, grey, violet...and all variations of those. You're right, it is certainly elegant! Yet another CC polish I need to add to my wish list... *sigh ;)

  2. Oh my gosh, this is awesome. I don't care for most thermal polishes, except the ones that go from clear to colored--but I *adore* this...

    1. They're not my favorite, but I agree, this one is gorgeous... My favorite eyeshadow is the shade of the warm tone in this and I just think it's a fascinating polish color. Clear to colored? That sounds FUN!! I've never seen one of those!
