L'Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow-- Golden Emerald and Liquid Diamond

Hi kids!  I'm a little late to hop on the L'Oreal Infallible eyeshadows bandwagon.  Eyeshadows aren't my favorite beauty product in the world, and when given the choice to play up eyes or lips, I will always go lips.  When Deb at Beauty Ninja posted about these densely pigmented shadows, though, they kind of struck a chord.  Deb is a masterful shadow blender and I require a step by step outline of how to apply multiple colors; these, however, looked like they might be kind of fun and dramatic on their own.  Observe, and decide for yourselves.

I picked up Liquid Diamond (left) and Golden Emerald (right).
Liquid Diamond is beautiful.  Not only does it call to mind an amazing older Tori Amos song, it's glamorous, versatile, and easy to wear.

Liquid Diamond is a festive silvery lavender with some mellowing taupe to make it beautifully versatile.  Did I mention that?  I love versatile.  It's my favorite. :)

I love this one, and I love how it looks on its own.  It's light, so it's easier for someone not huge into dramatic eye looks to apply.  There's minimal fallout and it wears beautifully through a day of work as through a night of revelry (I've worn it on both occasions).  It looks as pretty with a neutral lip as with a red.

The second color I tried is Golden Emerald, a completely stunning hunter green and gold flecked shadow.  This one's a little trickier.

I tried Golden Emerald out by itself and wore this puppy on into work and felt a tad inappropriate (though I got quite a few compliments that day).

I honestly think this one would do better as a crease color.  Golden Emerald had a lot of fallout, which ended up being a pain because I couldn't just dust it off with a big fluffy brush.  It smeared and stained and caused a mess when I tried to clean it up.  Anyway, it's really gorgeous and kind of addicting to put on (I kept thinking it's like a glassfleck for eyes, lol) so I feel it's definitely worth getting out of my comfort zone and playing around with.
There's a gold one I think I might try, and I have a dark plum purple that needs some tinkering around with before I take that look out in public, lol.  What do you think?  Got any of these?  Love? Not so much?
Thanks for reading. :)

  1. Both of these look amazing on you, but it sucks about the crappy formula on the green. HAhaha once I wore a bright purple UD es to work (typically I wear nothing but beige/taupe) and I felt the same way, and I got compliments lol. I also need to jump on the Infallible wagon one day.

    1. Haha, I was a little self conscious, too... I heard the words "Mimi from the Drew Carey Show" come up and was convinced they were talking about me....

  2. I have Amber Rush and LOVE it. You should check that one out next time you are in the store. It's really pretty. These both look great on you. I for sure want to try Liquid Diamond but I am a little worried that I wouldn't wear the green one because it's so different for me. It looks like such an awesome pop of color on your - especially with your brown eyes. Hmmmm. You are making me want to check more of them out now:) Have you tried the Color Tattos?

    1. Okay just proofread.... "you" not "your" and "tattoos" not "tattos" :)

    2. Green makeup is hard! I'm even realizing green polish is a little on the tricky side, just because that color tends to bring out redness. I'll definitely check out Amber Rush. And no, I haven't tried Color Tattoos. Are those L'Oreal, too? Oh, proofreading... I've now edited my third paragraph three times because I basically completely repeated myself from the second... I thought I did proofread, but apparently I was more concerned with the pictures, lol.

    3. No, I guess the Tattoos are Maybelline. I love Bad to the Bronze and Tough as Taupe. I also have the cranberry one but I look sick when I wear burgundy or pink eyeshadows. I think it brings out the red in my eyes or something. Oh, and Barely Beige is awesome too! Love those color tattoos - they don't crease either. I pulled out my Amber Rush Infallible and wore it today because of your post :)

    4. Saweet! ;) I'll definitely check out the Color Tattoos. No creasing is good. These don't seem to, either. And that's totally how I felt in this green, like I looked sick and/or tired. Like it totally exacerbated my undereye circles. I might need to figure out how to do concealer if I want to wear this color again... that ventures into completely unknown and slightly too high maintenance for me territory, though....

    5. You don't wear concealer? I love the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind. It's nice and light and doesn't settle into fine lines. I think I get the light???

    6. Honestly, half the time I don't wear anything, at all... When I went to have my wedding makeup trial run (almost eight years ago) the gal put a couple different Bobbi Brown concealers on me and I loved the way they looked, and wearing concealer's sort of been in the back of my head since. I worry most about matching my base. Also, I hate putting stuff under my eyes, lol. I'll check out the Maybelline, though. Nice and light is always good.

    7. I always get a lighter concealer to brighten. I put it on after my eyeshadow so it helps clean everything up too. If you don't like the idea of an actual concealer, maybe use the Garnier Roller Ball in the tinted shade. That works well - not tons of coverage, but I love using it before I put anything else on. It feels nice and cool too!

    8. Oh, I like the roller ball idea. Baby steps. :) i'm going to get it and try it right now, lol.

  3. Omg!! Thanks so much for mentioning me! I feel so honored that you thought of me when you slapped these colors on your lids! And look at you rockin green!! I can help you with the fallout issue too. 1. Anytime I want to catch fallout, I just fold up a Kleenex and hold it under the eye I'm working on to catch the mess. 2. I don't even have to do that with these cuz I use my finger to apply them. I pat them on. The warmth of your finger helps it adhere. ;) I love that you're playing with color!! Keep it up - life is too short to wear beige every day. ;D Love ya chickiepoo!! :)

    1. Thank you so much for the tips, Deb! I've heard these are best applied with fingertips, or even the spongetip applicators. Anything but the brushes I know and love, lol. I'll definitely give that a shot. <3

  5. Oh man, that Emerald Green is an amazing color!! Makes your beautiful brown eyes pop! I agree with you on Deb's magical eye-shadow powers. I sure try, but I can never achieve her beautiful blending. I think I need to go find that green now. . . .

    1. Haha, cool! It is a pretty color, for sure. :) Once in a while I'll blend up to three different colors, as long as they're neutral and on the same palette.

  6. Oh No. Don't show me any more makeup. I'm starting to get trapped in the make up world too. LOL.. Currently having an interesting affair with lipsticks. Lol...

    The green is gorgeous.

    1. I LOVE lipsticks! The makeup world is cool, but there is much to learn, lol. ;)

  7. Both of these colors are gorgeous on you! I find that wearing a primer helps with these eye shadows. If the green feels a little intense, try wearing it as a liner!

    1. Thank you!! And wearing it as a liner's a great idea.
