Julep Eloise + Shimmer Carol

Good morning, everyone!!  Back when she was still blogging, my friend Essie would post about the prettiest creme and glitter duos and trios.  She just has a knack for matching polishes.  One of my favorite duos was also one of her last posts (HERE)-- she paired a dusty navy with the most perfect glitter accent, sealing the deal that I needed some Shimmer glitters in my life.
I paired Julep Eloise, a similar smoky navy creme (and another acquisition made because of Es), with that glitter, called Carol-- a gold, copper, cerulean, and black mix of different sized glitters in a clear base.

I used two coats of Eloise and three coats of Carol.  Eloise is actually quite unique (check out my dusty blue comparison post HERE) and one of my favorite dark blues.  The clear based Shimmer glitters are a little on the peek-a-boo side, but they're super saturated with glitter and make such a pretty accent.  They're pretty well behaved, for glitters, though one single glitter (just one, lol) was raised more than the others, so I used two coats of topcoat for my accent nail.

In case you're interested in trying Julep, feel free to sign up for the subscription service using my referral link (HERE).  If you decide to try it, make sure you read ALL the terms and conditions and carefully go through the faqs.  They've made some changes to the service, like new Mavens have to "earn" skips, and at that, they max out at two per year, and that's one reason I'm not going to recommend the service.  But, they do have some fun and innovative colors, and that, combined with the fact that I became a Maven before the cutoff date and so have been grandfathered in with no changes, keeps me holding on to my membership.

Carol is available on Shimmer Polish's etsy site HERE for considerably less hassle.

Thank you for reading and have a marvelous day!! ♥

  1. This combo is so delicate and elegant! Eloise is such a regal blue at that!!! I miss Essie's posts but I still live vicariously through her old posts!! Love this combo and Carol, I THINK I have that one? Maybe? Is it bad I'm not sure that I do? Haha!

    1. I do, too! I love going back through her old stuff once in a while. And no, it's not bad that you're not sure whether or not you own Carol. Well, maybe a little, lol ;) Is it bad that I could probably name each and every one of mine?

    1. Thanks Christine! ♥ I've been wanting to wear this duo for a while, not sure what was holding me back. Es's Shimmer manis are some of my favorites.

  5. Thanks for the shout out! You are making me miss blogging :) I will have to say, no one would want to see my nails and cuticles right now. With all of the washing of my hands after changing diapers and the washing of the bottles, they are horrible!! I do manage to still paint my nails, but they are no longer blog worthy :(

    1. Aw. They'd be back up to macro shape in no time, just a couple days' worth of tlc :) It is truly amazing how much effort goes into keeping them camera ready, though, and how fast they can go down the tubes, lol.
